The 1970s laid the foundation for the slasher genre as we know it today. Four years after the celebrated “Black Christmas” (1974), it was John Carpenter who unleashed the next holiday killer and made horror movie history with “Halloween – The Night of Horrors”. Unfortunately, Der Bohrmaschinekiller, which also appeared in 1978, was not such a success.
Released internationally as “The Toolbox Murders” and once in Germany as “Der Killer mit der Bohrmaschine”, the slasher landed on the index in Germany in the early 1980s and was not allowed to be openly advertised or sold for a long time. . This has now changed: “Der Bohrmaschinekiller” will be released fully unabridged on March 3, 2023 on DVD, Blu-ray and even on 4K Blu-ray:

The cult massacre was presented to the FSK again in 2008, as usual 25 years after an indexation. The special thing: unlike many other films, the release authority did not pardon “The Drill Killer”. The film was indexed accordingly – and continued to lead a shadowy existence.
The shocker has long enjoyed a cult following among genre fans and was finally remade in 2004 as “The Toolbox Murders” by none other than legendary director Tobe Hooper (“Texas Chainsaw Massacre”, “Poltergeist”). Well deserved, the original is finally returning to the spotlight. By the way, both films are also available as a strictly limited double feature set:

As early as 2022, the uncut version of the film celebrated its local uncut premiere with FSK 18 in the home cinema, exclusively at the drugstore chain Müller. From the beginning of March 2023, “Der Bohrmaschinekiller” will finally be available everywhere in stores.
This is “The Drill Killer”
“The Drill Killer” is one of the scariest movies out there – finds none other than horror pope Stephen King, who makes no secret of his love for the no-compromise toolbox kills. And here we are with the big difference from “Halloween”: While Carpenter relies mostly on suspense and suspense in his terrifying milestone, TV director Dennis Donnelly (“The A-Team,” “Charlie’s Angels”) doesn’t do it at all. his most famous feature film. There’s bloodthirsty killing going on here and that’s what it’s all about when the eponymous psychopath springs into action.
And that’s what matters: Los Angeles is gripped by a series of gruesome crimes. A ruthless stranger wreaks havoc in the city of angels and hunts women, killing them one after the other. But the police are in the dark until one day Joey (Nicolas Beauvy, “The Cowboys”) decides to go after the ski mask-wearing killer, who keeps his murder tools in a toolbox, and his 15-year-old sister. Laurie (Pamelyn Ferdin, “Betrayed”).
Suspicion soon falls on the reclusive Kingsley (Wesley Eure, “Days of Our Lives”). But the deeper Joey delves into the investigation, the more he must fear for his life…
