The Golden Globes have already been handed out, like numerous other awards, the nominations for the Academy Awards are about to be announced, in short: we are in the middle of the 2022/2023 awards season. And of course that includes the Golden Raspberries or Razzie Awards, which annually honor the (supposedly?) worst films, filmmakers and actors – or rather: “excellent”.
In the Razzies of 2023, Netflix has the dubious honor of leading the way: with eight nominations for the Marilyn Monroe biopic “Blonde,” plus one nomination for Worst Director (Judd Apatow for “The Bubble”), Worst Remake/Rip-Off/Sequel, and Worst Screen Couple (each for “365 Days 2”) . and “365 days 3”).
Doubtful honor for “Blond”
However, the nominations for “Blonde” in particular show that the worst films of the year are no more awarded at the Razzies than the best (if such a thing exists) at the Oscars: “Blonde” is by no means a total bust ripped through the bank by fans and the trade press, but rather a highly controversial film. So the suspicion is obvious that those responsible for the Razzies simply didn’t like “Blonde”, which is also reflected in the two rather unusual nominations: In the category Worst Screen Couple For example, ‘Blonde’ has been nominated for both ‘Both real characters in the bizarre bed scene in the White House’ and for director ‘Andrew Dominik and his problems with women’.. Anyone who has seen the film knows what is alluded to here.
Tom Hanks, “Morbius” and stoner comedy
Another unwanted record holder also includes Tom Hankswhich has been nominated for a total of three Razzies. One for Worst Leading Actor (for “Pinocchio”) and Worst Supporting Actor, plus an additional win for Worst Picture Couple (both for “Elvis”) along with his latex facial prostheses and his “ridiculous” accent.
There are now seven nominations for the stoner comedy’, which has not yet been released in Germany.Good morning“which received zero percent positive reviews seems to have earned the title as one of the worst movies of 2022. “Morbid‘, on the other hand, came off relatively lightly with only five nominationsdespite the Marvel superhero movie being arguably the most ridiculed and memeized title of 2022.
