He Brought Us The Music For “Star Wars”, “ET” & “Harry Potter”: Steven Spielberg Is Planning A Documentary About Legendary Composer John Williams

Every film fan knows the compositions of this Hollywood legend: John Williams brought us the music of such classics as Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Superman, ET – The Extra-Terrestrial, Schindler’s List, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” or “Seven Years in Tibet” . Now the composer, who has won five Oscars, is also being commemorated on film – master director Stephen Spielbergwho has worked extensively with John Williams is planning one with his production company Amblin full length documentary about John Williams.

Amblin Television, Imagine Documentaries and Nedland Media will produce the documentary, which is currently in a very early stage of development. The director is the experienced documentary maker Laurent Bouzereau, who already created a documentary monument to another legend of the film industry in 2011 with “Roman Polanski: A Film Memoir”.

Steven Spielberg will lead the project alongside other well-known Hollwood greats – including Ron Howard – produce. Spielberg should know how much he owes to the great music of John Williams – after all, his memorable scores contributed significantly to the success of such films as “Jurassic Park” or “Jaws”.

John Williams: The end of his career can wait

In an interview with the now 90-year-old composer John Williams already hinted last year that he could take a well-deserved Hollywood retirement after Indiana Jones 5: “Right now I’m working on Indiana Jones 5, with Harrison Ford – who is quite a bit younger than me – when his last movie was announced. So I thought, ‘If Harrison can do this, maybe I can too.’”

Fortunately, Williams Harrison Ford seems unmatchable after all and will continue to spoil our ears with his signature scores. in a new conversation of the composer announced that he is far from thinking about stopping:

“I will be in business for a while. I can’t stop music. A day without music is a mistake.”

New collaboration from Spielberg & Williams?

As a reason for this, the composer also mentioned his long-term collaboration with master director Steven Spielberg:

“Steven is not a man you can just say ‘no’ to.”

It sounds like we’ll have a few more joint projects from the Hollywood legends in the future – surely we and our ears would be very happy if we could still enjoy one or the other of the film scores from the now 90-year-old composer.
