Post-apocalyptic rock opera: “Stranger Things” star reveals singing talent for new film project

The Netflix hit “Stranger Things” served as a springboard for the career of its young stars. And Sadie Sink, who plays Max Mayfield, has also been doing well since her role in the series. She recently garnered critical acclaim and numerous award nominations for her role in the critically acclaimed drama The Whale. Her next project is now in the starting blocks.

Sadie Sink has taken the lead in “Odessasnapped – a “post-apocalyptic rock opera” based on an original screenplay by Geremy Jasper. Sadie Sink gets the chance to use her singing talent, which was not fully expressed in her previous film and series projects.

Sadie Sink has Broadway experience

In an interview with she recently spoke about her early musical performances on Broadway, but she has been “buried deep within herself” ever since. However, she could envision using her singing talent for a movie if the right one came along. Until then, it’s her “hidden talent, her little secret”. With O’Dessa, Sink seems to have found the project she’s been waiting for. Screenwriter Geremy Jasper, best known for his award-winning indie drama Patti Cake$ – Queen Of Rap, also directs.

That’s what “O’Dessa” is all about

O’Dessa is set in a post-apocalyptic future as a farmer’s daughter (Sadie Sink) on an epic journey to to retrieve an important family heirloom. Her journey takes her to a strange and dangerous city where she meets her true love. But to save her soul, she must test the power of fate and music.

Shooting “O’Dessa” would be noisy will start in Croatia as early as May 2023, so we expect a release in 2024. Also in 2024, Sadie Sink returns as Max Mayfield in Season 5 of Stranger Things. But soon you will see the actress in “The Whale” in the cinema. The drama, for which lead actor Brendan Fraser just received a Golden Globe, will premiere on April 27, 2023.
