Bright skin thanks to Gua Sha stone

It is well known that one has to try something new from time to time. The current beauty trend on social media is called Gua Sha. Numerous expressive people are massaging their faces with a flat stone.

What is this supposed to be good for?

With Gua Sha massage, excess fluids and lymph congestions under the skin are expelled by massage. This allows the lymph flow and the energy in the body to flow again. Regular use leads to better blood circulation, vitality and elasticity of the skin. It is also said to cure inflammation, boost the immune system, and improve sleep. It seems like a miracle cure that we can actually use to combat pale and pale skin!

In fact, the practice of Gua Sha is not a new invention at all, but a tradition of thousands of years: Gua Sha stones come from Chinese medicine, where they were traditionally used for lymphatic drainage (medical massage). However, compared to the original practice, facial massage is a much gentler version.

How to adopt the beauty trend?

The term is composed of the words “gua” which translates as “press” or “stroke” and “sha” which means “rash” or “redness”. That’s why we fix unwanted bumps on our face.

If you want to try the trend, you should definitely pay attention to the right strike direction:

  • inside out
  • bottom up

The stone is carefully and gently pulled out of the skin and only light pressure should be applied. A cooling effect comes into play, helping to stimulate blood circulation and brighten our ‘radiance’.

The stone should never be used on unprepared skin. It is important to thoroughly clean the face before the massage. A facial oil or serum will then help the stone literally glide over the skin. The products also integrate better with the skin thanks to the stone.

different shapes

The stone itself comes in different shapes and varieties. However, as a rule, massage aids are flat and resemble a heart. The edges are rounded. The stone of choice is usually jade, amethyst or rose quartz.
If you prefer not to hold the stone directly in your hand, there are also facial rollers that can be used for massage.
