After “Doctor Strange 2”: Will “Star Wars” villain Adam Driver land one of the most coveted Marvel roles?

The Fantastic Four is one of the oldest and best-known Marvel characters of all time, but cinematic appearances by Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic, Sue Storm / Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm / Human Torch and Ben Grimm / The Thing have so far been less than glorious – neither 1994, nor 2005, nor 2015. So it’s about time that the fantastic family in the Marvel Cinematic Universe finally gets the movie they deserved. But who will slip into the right roles in the new “Fantastic Four”?

Not only are many fans scratching their heads over who could play Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm, the four characters are also among the most coveted roles in Hollywood. And at least one of them a top contender may be on the rise: “Star Wars” villain Adam Driver as Reed Richard, aka Mr. Fantastic. So if that’s true, John Krasinski would be out again after his performance as Richards from a parallel world in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness.

Way back in October 2022, well-connected Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider brought Driver’s name to his podcast in the game. However, Sneider explicitly emphasized at the time that he only heard that from a source he could not yet verify. However, he also said that he could just imagine Driver as the super smart Mr. Fantastic with stretched limbs.

That alone wouldn’t necessarily be newsworthy. However, the rumors of Adam Driver as Reed Richards are now reaching us from two other sources. That is what Grace Randolph claims on the one hand that he was “the front-runner for a certain stretchy role”. As an insider, Randolph is controversial to say the least and has been wrong several times, but has managed to stand out with correct information a few times recently and redeem himself for many.

Further confirmation of the rumor comes from the site that specializes in superheroes of all kinds , which has also had some real Marvel news. Also claims to have learned from her sources that Driver is at the top of Marvel’s wish list.

At the same time, we must emphasize once again that even rumors from three different sources are by no means a confirmation. It just says that Adam Driver is Marvel’s preferred candidate, but it’s possible that Driver himself isn’t interested at all or simply doesn’t have time in his certainly busy schedule.

There is certainly good news: Since “Fantastic Four” will be released in German cinemas on February 12, 2025, the Fantastic Four will definitely be cast in 2023., possibly even in the coming months. After all, filming must start at the end of 2023/early 2024 to meet that start date.
