The horror movie “M3GAN” hits theaters on January 5 and has already grossed $45.6 million worldwide. Even though the film only had a budget of 12 million dollars.
“M3GAN” is about a doll developed by the robot engineer Gemma to bring a lifelike doll into every child’s room. She listens to the children and learns to become active as a teacher, playmate and protector. When Gemma unexpectedly takes custody of her orphaned niece Cady, she gives her a prototype M3GAN doll (stands for: Model 3 Generative Android). But M3GAN’s overprotective urge means she wants to get on with anything and anyone that even remotely threatens Cady.
A second film is in the works, Deadline reports. The screenwriter said in an interview with the magazine that when the trailer went viral, teenagers wanted to see the film and there should be an age-rated version. She also reveals that the movie was originally supposed to be a lot more gruesome.

The fans’ enthusiasm is not only expressed in text form, but also sparked a dance trend on social media – similar to the Netflix hit “Wednesday”. The hashtag #m3gandance has already been viewed more than 194 million times on Tiktok.
It all started with a video of a group of “M3GAN” dancers performing at the world premiere of Taylor Swift’s song “It’s Nice to Have a Friend” last month. They literally went on tour, stopping at the Empire State Building, on the subway, as well as The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel Live!
