In 2022, 26 subsidiaries were established at ETH Zurich. As ETH wrote in a press release, most of the companies are in the IT sector.
The spin-off «Transcality» creates digital models of traffic systems. This means that traffic flows in cities can be analyzed in the future. Some companies have also been established in the medical sector. Three companies are working on cancer drugs, and two other companies are developing apps to reduce stress.
Four spin-offs were created at the ETH student workshop Student Project House. Among others, the company “Bottleplus” has developed a sustainable drinking bottle that can produce carbon dioxide on the go.
And companies are already making money: 26 divisions have generated a record 1.2 billion Swiss francs. All three of the companies achieved “unicorn” status. This means that even before the IPO, their market value exceeded a billion dollars.
