Since it became known that “Deadpool 3” is not “just” another movie with Ryan Reynolds in the title role (only this time in the MCU), but will also bring Hugh Jackman’s comeback as Wolverine, anticipation has increased enormously. on the Marvel blockbuster. And almost ever since he was confirmed for “Deadpool 3,” Jackman has been spending his time revealing details about the film – at least that’s the first impression.
It all started with the announcement itself, in which Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman shared what they thought would be plot details, but the music played over them prevented them from being heard (until they were later deciphered by a lip reader). Jackman then revealed a central plot element of the sequel, explaining how Wolverine, who was actually dead after “Logan”, is able to return:
And now Jackman has (apparently?) accidentally leaked the title of Deadpool 3: Wolverine & Deadpool.. It all happens in a video where Jackman’s priority request is that the Academy overseeing the Academy Awards not nominate his co-star Ryan Reynolds for an Oscar for Best Song (for “Good Afternoon” from “Spirited”):
So Wolverine and Deadpool, boy?
— Ryan Reynolds (@VancityReynolds) January 4, 2023
Because, according to Jackman: “If Ryan Reynolds gets an Oscar nomination for Best Song, it would make the next year of my life unbearable. I have to spend the next year with him doing Wolverine & Deadpool. Trust me, that would be impossible. That would be a problem.”
Of course, Reynolds himself has already responded to his co-star’s (alleged) misstep, highlighting the “Wolverine & Deadpool” in a tweet. Of course, if this is really the reveal of the title, the whole thing is certainly no coincidence. At the same time, it is not entirely clear whether it is a title at all. Because the way Jackman pronounces the title might as well mean “the movie with Wolverine and Deadpool.”
In any case, the video is of course not intended to be taken seriouslybut part of the playful feud between the two stars, which they’ve been battling in public for many years and which will hopefully also enrich “Deadpool 3” (or “Wolverine & Deadpool” or “Deadpool & Wolverine” or whatever).
And by the way, Jackman doesn’t have to worry about Reynolds actually being nominated for an Oscar for Best Song. Because for a golden boy in this category, the only question is who contributed to the music or lyrics. And according to the Spirited credits, that’s Khiyon Hursey, Sukari Jones, Benj Pasek, Justin Paul and Mark Sonnenblick, while Reynolds sang the song alone along with Will Ferrell and the rest of the cast.
