What are you grateful for today? What inspired you? The new Swiss app “Resilyou” asks its users similar questions. The purpose of this is to strengthen their satisfaction and stamina, that is, their mental stamina. Also, the app aims to deepen friendships and relationships by sharing your entries with another person.
The practice is partly in collaboration with psychologists and in St. It was developed by Meike Kocholl (27) as part of a course at the University of St. Gallen. The app has been available for download on the App Store for two weeks – currently free. st. The Reformed Church of the Canton of Gallen financially supported “Resilyou”.
That fits, says Kocholl. After all, pastoral care has a long tradition in the church. However, the practice itself is free of religious influences. Kocholl hopes that many people, especially young people, will benefit from the application. Thanks to him, you can change a lot with very little effort. “You can train mental strength like a muscle,” he says. The longer you do the exercises in practice based on the findings of positive psychology, the more positive you will perceive in daily life.
Little moments of happiness in everyday life
Gratitude means a focus on achievement and recognition, increased scope for one’s own action, and acquiring resources that make it easier to survive a crisis. Kocholl says the most important thing is to keep going. Therefore, the exercises in the app are not complicated and only take about five minutes a day. “I am the hardest-working user,” he admits. “Since I started using the app’s methods two years ago, I’ve been more positive throughout the day and savor the good times longer.”
The latter need not fail at all. Often times, she notes little moments of happiness in everyday life in her gratitude diary in the app. Time spent with family. Nice meal. Or hiking in the mountains.
