“The Witcher: Blood Origin”: The Pregnancy and Ithlinne’s Prophecies Explained

How did the Conjunction of Spheres come about, merging the separate spheres of Elves, Men, and Monsters to form The Witcher’s world? And what role did the creation of the first witcher play in this? That “The Witcher: Blood Origin” would answer these two central questions has long been clear and no longer a secret. However, the prequel series also explores a third big question: Where does the Elder Blood actually come from (also Elder Blood or Hen Ichaer), because of the Ciri (Freya Alan) is being hunted by everyone in The Witcher’s current action?

Strictly speaking, this is not really a big surprise, after all, the title “Blood Origin” already indicates that it concerns the origin of a certain blood – this can really only mean the older blood to be. and this Elder Blood is now heading to Éile in Netflix canon (Sophia Brown) and fell (Laurence O’Fuarain) yieldas we learn in the final scenes of Blood Origin.

Are Éile & Fjall Ciri’s great-great grandparents?

The two fathered a childabout which narrator Seanchai (Minnie Driver) says off screen: “The blood that flowed in him was unique. Blood drawn by monsters and magic.” Because Éile and Fjall only had sex after Fjall became the first version of a witch through a mixture of herbs and the heart of a monster from another dimension. And this proto-wizard, unlike the human wizards many, many years later, is clearly not barren.

Thus, in the Netflix canon, Éile and Fjall also become the first known ancestors of Ciri, while in Andrzej Sapkowski’s books it is the elf king Auberon and his beloved Shiadhal. Perhaps one of them is Éile’s child? In any case, the daughter of Auberon and Shiadhal, Lara Dorren, the first bearer of the Elder blood, was already seen in the second season of “The Witcher”. Ithlinne’s prophecy in “Blood Origin”

Further evidence of the Elder-Blood’s origins in Fjall and Éile comes from another vision of Ithlinne in the same scene (Ella Schrey-Yeats). She doesn’t use the same words as her famous prophecy from the books and video games, but the gist is the same:

“The seed of the lark sings the first note of the song that announces the end of all times. And one of their descendants will sing last.” That means in plain language: A person with Elder Blood will play an important role in the downfall (but especially the subsequent rebirth) of the world. And that person is Ciriafter all, she is the bearer of the Elder blood and lives at the time of the action of “The Witcher”, in which Ithlinne’s prophecy seems to come true…
