Michael Wendler’s miraculous return to the internet – that’s behind it

Michael Wendler is back on Instagram and Twitter. But at least for the photo network, his comeback was short-lived. Because in order to be active again on Instagram, Wendler cheated and was then blocked again.

The pop singer’s account on Instagram has been unavailable since February 2021 after the singer spread conspiracy theories about the corona pandemic on his official profiles. “We have removed the Instagram account because it repeatedly violated our guidelines,” a company spokesperson told the German news agency at the time.

While Michael Wendler himself was mainly active on Telegram afterwards, his wife Laura’s profile remained on Instagram. That of the normal dogs Tiger and Smoke was still online. And it is exactly this profile that Michael Wendler wanted to use for his comeback.

Because on the night of December 26 to 27, an account with a new name suddenly appeared on Instagram. Under “Der_Michael_Wendler” was a picture of Laura and Michael in front of a Christmas tree. Laura herself also shared the profile in her story. But the account is not new. Only the profile of the two dogs was renamed and the photos of the pets were removed.

Because with his own account that works under his name, Michael Wendler is no longer allowed to register on Instagram. Making the dogs’ existing account his own seemed like a loophole to the singer.

But his plan didn’t quite work. The new account has now also been blocked by Instagram. If you try to call it, you just get an error. Instagram has probably responded to the complaints.

Perhaps Michael Wendler suspected his comeback to Instagram wouldn’t last long. Because shortly after the comeback to Instagram, Laura drew attention to another Wendler profile in her story, which has been active for a while: his Twitter account.

Wendler already posted the first tweet there on November 19 of this year. Now the pop singer is using the account intensively again to communicate with his fans – and at the same time to fire on other social networks.

In an article by “Bild” about his comeback on Instagram, he writes: “Again, I show Germany and the world how disgusting and dangerous a world with censorship is.” There is no admitting that he violated Instagram’s Community Guidelines and was therefore likely rightly blocked.

But of course the Twitter users have not forgotten that Wendler mainly attracted attention with conspiracy stories at the start of the corona pandemic. When asked about it on Twitter, he tries to talk himself out of it. A user confronts him with the statement “In September, almost all corona vaccinees are dead”, which he had spread via Telegram. The singer replies: “I never said if and when people who are vaccinated with Corona die. I have only posted or quoted doctors claiming this!”

That doesn’t sound like insight or regret from Michael Wendler. Instead, he apparently tries to put his questionable behavior into perspective. It remains to be seen if Twitter will let him get away with it or respond in a similar way to Instagram.
