The most beautiful Swiss villages in winter

Zuoz GR

Zuoz is a romantic village in the Upper Engadine. It has a population of about 1200 and is at an altitude of 1750 meters above sea level. The village is remote but easily accessible by public transport or car. It is especially beautiful in winter: the typical Engadin houses, streets and fountains are covered with snow. Good weather is almost guaranteed when walking in the village or on the winter hiking trails, which is sunny for about 300 days a year.

bever GR

In winter, Bever turns into a snow-covered fairyland. The beauty of the village entices you to take a walk, passing by the magnificent church tower and painted facades. Bever is surrounded by winter hiking trails and ski areas. st. Moritz can be reached in less than 10 minutes by car.

Steering BE

Lenk im Simental is known as one of the most beautiful ski areas. However, the charming village with its panorama in the background is also convincing. After all, the municipality is considered “probably the most beautiful valley tip in the Alps”. Those who want to relax will get their money’s worth here: taking a walk along Simme, at the Stockhorn Igloo World or in the wellness area Wallbach Bad.

Schwarzsee France

The village of Schwarzsee is located in the municipality of Plaffeien FR, east of the Friborg Pre-Alps, and takes its name from the lake of the same name. In winter it freezes and you can ski in the lake. The area around the lake also offers a variety of other winter activities. So you can enjoy the romantic nature to the fullest.

Château-d’Oex VD

Château-d’Oex already has a lot to offer: hot air balloon rides stand out. Snow adds another layer to it in winter, literally: the village turns into a beautiful winter paradise.

Bosco Gurin TI

Snow and Ticino are rarely brought together in one thought. But Bosco Gurin is an exception. It is 1503 meters above sea level, making it the highest village in the canton of Ticino. The snow-covered wonderland is also the only German-speaking village in Ticino. Those who want to do winter sports will get their money’s worth here.

Loetschental VS

Lötschental hosts the famous Tschäggättä carnival. The event has been canceled for 2021, but traditions can be experienced throughout the village: at the Lötschental Museum, carving a Tschäggättä mask, a cooking class with Lötschental specialties, or building an igloo.

Anzere VS

Anzère is a relatively modern village high above the Rhone Valley. 60 years ago there were only five small chalets here. The village in the Valais Alps is a popular holiday destination, especially during the winter months. With a variety of sports on offer, there is something for everyone. By the way, you can ski through the village, as Anzère is on a slope.
