5 hot drinks for cold days

When it’s dim outside and a cool breeze is blowing in the corners, a warm feel-good drink can cheer up the day. This provides a pleasant atmosphere in the house and sweetens cold days. However, classic tea or traditional mulled wine is a thing of the past. Those who want to add innovation to their taste can try the following recipes.

Spicy vanilla chai latte

For 2 servings you need:

  • 1 vanilla bean

  • 230 ml of milk

  • 1 teaspoon of cane sugar

  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger

  • 2 bags of chai tea

  • ½ stick of cinnamon

  • 300ml water

  • some cinnamon

  • 1 star anise (optional)

  • some whipped cream (optional)

Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Cut the vanilla pod in half and scrape off the pulp.

  2. Boil water with cane sugar, ginger, cinnamon sticks and tea bags on low heat; Stir regularly.

  3. After five minutes, remove the bag. Pour the milk and vanilla pulp into the saucepan. Cook for another three minutes and mix again.

  4. Strain the drink through a sieve and pour into glasses. Top with some whipped cream if you like and garnish with cinnamon and star anise at the end.

For 1 serving you need:

  • 50 ml of gin of your choice

  • 200 ml apple juice

  • 1 vanilla bean

  • 1 orange

  • 2 cloves

  • 1 stick of cinnamon

  • 1 star anise

Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Squeeze the orange and put it in a saucepan. Cook for ten minutes with apple juice and spices.

  2. Strain the liquid, pour it into a glass and add the gin.

  3. Garnish optionally with a cinnamon stick, star anise and a slice of orange.

Hot Aperol

For 1 serving you need:

  • 1 orange slice

  • 125 ml white wine

  • 80 ml apple juice

  • 50ml aperol

  • ½ tablespoon of orange syrup

Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Wash the orange in hot water and cut a slice.

  2. Heat the orange slice, white wine, apple juice, Aperol and orange syrup in a saucepan over low heat.

  3. Pour the drink into a glass and serve.

Gingerbread Hot Chocolate

For 1 serving you need:

  • 250ml milk

  • 25 grams of chocolate

  • 1 teaspoon ginger spice

  • some whipped cream

  • some chocolate chips

  • 1 fresh gingerbread cookie

Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Heat the milk in a saucepan and finely chop the chocolate.

  2. Put the chocolate in a saucepan and stir constantly to let it melt.

  3. Add the gingerbread seasoning and mix everything together.

  4. Pour the hot chocolate into a glass. Whip the cream as desired and top it off and garnish with chocolate chips and gingerbread.

Cinnamon Eggnog cocktail

For 1 serving you need:

  • 140 ml of milk

  • orange zest

  • some vanilla pulp

  • 20 grams of sugar

  • 60 ml eggnog

  • 1 stick of cinnamon

  • some coconut blossom sugar (optional)

Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Gently heat the milk, orange zest, sugar, and vanilla pulp on low.

  2. Add eggnog and mix. Foam the mixture with a blender or milk frother.

  3. Moisten the rim of the glass and dip the glass in the coconut blossom sugar.

  4. Pour the cocktail into the glass, garnish with a cinnamon stick and serve.
