Blick and Switzerland Tourism are looking for the most beautiful ski areas of this year’s winter season and are awarding Blick Winter Awards in six categories. Each ski area in Switzerland had the opportunity to register for a maximum of two of the six categories. You decide who will win!
In the “Small and Beautiful” category, we’re looking for a winning ski area that is small but still has a lot to offer. The following ski areas are in the “Small and Slim” category. We present them here in alphabetical order. Vote for your favorite now on www.winterawards.ch!
Aeschi/Aeschiried, Canton of Bern
The Aeschi/Aeschiried ski area offers a unique view of Lake Thun below. The tracks range from easy to difficult and are accessed by two tractors and a training lift. A day’s skiing in Aeschiried is definitely a super experience, because here you can only ski on perfectly groomed natural snow.
Bellwald, Canton of Valais
Enjoy the mountain descent while the kids have fun at the ski school. Sitting in a cafe and daydreaming. You can still keep an eye on your family: the Bellwald family park is so manageable and family friendly that you will always find each other quickly. Biel-Kinzig, Canton of Uri

Bivio sports facilities, canton Graubünden
The Bivio ski area offers you wide and clean slopes at an altitude of 1769 to 2560 meters above sea level. For skiers, carvers and snowboarders, we offer pure winter fun for even the smallest slope enthusiast, easy descents right into the middle of the village. There is no waiting time at elevator entrances and cash registers. Not even in peak season.
Brambrüesch, canton of Graubnden
Thanks to the modern cable car, chairlift and chairlift, Brambrüesch can be reached directly from the city centre. It has its own charm and convinces experts, families and athletes with a comprehensive winter offer.
Grachen, Canton of Valais

Jaun, Canton of Friborg
The charming mountain village of Jaun is an insider tip for nature lovers. 25 kilometers of well-maintained tracks, 20 kilometers of cross-country skiing, 6 kilometers of toboggan runs and selected snowshoe routes invite you to explore them.
Langenbruck, Canton of the Basel Region
If the Frau Holle allows heavy snowfall, Langenbruck has a ski area with two chairlifts and around four kilometers of ski slopes for snow bunnies. Night skiing experiences remain in good memory. In Langenbruck, where aviation pioneer Oskar Bider grew up, cross-country skiers also meet in winter to combine sports and fun at the Bärenwil trail.
Loetschental, Lauchernalp, Canton of Valais
Lötschental is the most authentic valley in the Swiss Alps. A unique mountain natural landscape and living traditions provide unforgettable winter holidays in the midst of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Malbun, Liechtenstein
The small Malbun ski area is between 1600 and 2000 m above sea level. M. is in a romantic basin and offers 23 kilometers of ski slopes for all levels. The fact that the winter sports area is snowy and manageable makes the winter sports facility especially attractive for families.
Marbachegg, Canton of Lucerne
This is the small but beautiful, uncomplicated and family-friendly Marbach-Marbachegg winter sports area. At the children’s chairlift, located right next to the valley station of the gondola lift, the little ones can start their first skiing or snowboarding trials. Then we will move to the slopes of Marbachegg. On two lifts and a total of 10 kilometers of varied but clear descents, you’ll definitely meet them again and again, at the latest over a nice lunch at the mountain inn.
Melchsee-Frutt, Canton of Obwalden
With 36 kilometers of tracks, Melchsee-Frutt offers something for everyone, the area caters to the needs of all age groups and skill levels. There are also cross-country ski trails, winter hiking trails, snowshoeing trails and an 8-kilometer toboggan run. Thanks to the manageable environment, you can meet again and again in different constellations and enjoy the wonderful winter days together.
Mettmen Alp, Canton of Glarus
In Mettmen, in the secluded pastoral high above the valley, there are two special winter activities. Ice fishing at Mettmen Lake is a very special winter experience for young and old, experts and those who have never fished before.
Moosalp region, Canton of Valais

40 minutes from Zurich – and in this secluded side valley you are in another world. Niederurner Täli can be reached on foot or by a small cable car from Niederurnen.
Prättigau, canton of Graubünden
Fideriser Heuberge is known for its idyllic and gentle scenery. Personal, small and beautiful. With two chalets and three ski lifts at 2000 meters above sea level, it is unmistakably beautiful and suitable for families and groups as well. The area also offers a 12 km long toboggan run.
Rosswald, Canton of Valais
The Rosswald is manageable with 25 kilometers of inclines in blue, red and black difficulty levels. Winter sports enthusiasts can take the double lift to Fleschboden and dare to ski there or choose the next T-bar chairlift to Klena. The Stafel lift, which carries winter sports enthusiasts to an altitude of 2,600 meters above sea level, provides variety.
Sattel-Hochstuckli, Canton of Schwyz
Sattel-Hochstuckli is located in the heart of Central Switzerland. The manageable snowsports area with a rotating gondola, three chairlifts and 14 kilometers of pistes is very popular with families and is particularly suitable for beginners and those returning to skiing. Children’s lifts, conveyor belts, figures and obstacles make it easy to start snow sports in Rondo’s land of learning and fun.

In Tschiertschen you can enjoy idyllic winter sports days in the heart of the beautiful Graubünden mountains. Offering 32 kilometers of natural snow enjoyment, the winter sports area is also very popular among families with its manageable size.
Schratten Flühli cable car, Canton of Lucerne
The small Schratten Flühli ski area is an easily overlooked winter paradise for families. Cheap day tickets (20 francs) and family packages (50 francs) make the winter sports experience affordable for everyone.
Wilern Binn ski lift, Canton of Valais
The Wilere chairlift has a small 350-meter-long chairlift. The chairlift is operated by natural snow, which makes for a particularly enjoyable ride. Thanks to its manageable size, kids can sometimes ski alone while their parents drink coffee at the nearby restaurant.

Weissenberge, Canton of Glarus
A gem away from traffic and hustle and bustle. After getting on the cable car, you can enjoy the view of the valley and do sportive activities such as tobogganing, winter walks, snowshoeing or skiing tours. The very homely and lovingly run mountain inn will pamper you with home-cooked and regional cuisine, as well as meats straight from the farm.
