The news that attending a performance of “Terrifier 2” is the best and safest way to see what is arguably the most brutal movie of the year is guaranteed to be unadulterated. Horror fans poured into the halls in droves — on Friday, we were able to report that the damn shocker topped theatrical releases. But after the weekend, the cinema world looks a bit different again and the horror clown had to admit defeat to three films.

Director Michael Krummenacher’s charming children’s book adaptation starring Nicholas Ofczarek in the title role attracted a total of 95,000 visitors to cinemas in Germany this weekend, plus 30,000 tickets for the previews.
