Young Indy Looks Really Good: It’s All In The First Trailer Of “Indiana Jones And The Call Of Destiny” [Video]

Our video editor and “Indiana Jones” fan Sebastian took a closer look at the first trailer of “Indiana Jones 5” aka “Indiana Jones and the Call of Destiny” and he’s not the only one to judge: That all looks promising.

Above all, those responsible at Lucasfilm and Disney around director James Mangold (“Logan – The Wolverine”) and producer Kathleen Kennedy (“Star War”) seem to have done a great job of digitally rejuvenating Harrison Ford for a detailed flashback. So we see Indy again as we know him from his previous adventures that take place during World War II. Sebastian is really surprised how much he likes it.

Most of the story takes place in the 1960s. The space race between the US and the Soviet Union is at its peak. Who can send a human to the moon first? To win the race, the Americans even enlist the help of former Nazis – not a good idea, Indy thinks. In the video, Sebastian explains what it has to do with the real story and the so-called Operation Paperclip.

In doing so, he also takes a closer look at the numerous Easter eggs and allusions to the previous films that could already be discovered in the first trailer. Sebastian also explains what roles all the stars embody. Because while you know John Rhys-Davies as Sallah from the earlier films, Mads Mikkelsen (“Hannibal”) plays the villain Voller and Boyd Holbrook (“Narco”) plays Toby Jones (“First Cow”), Antonio Banderas (“Uncharted” ) and “Fleabag” Phoebe Waller-Bridge play new characters. But maybe they have connections with people we know well from the legendary adventure series.

Indiana Jones and the Call of Fateaka Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny is scheduled to hit theaters on June 29, 2023. If you’d like to watch the trailer again without analytical commentary, it’s available here:

There are plenty of other videos out there – mostly about DC and Marvel’s superheroes, but currently also about the Disney Plus fantasy series “Willow” or the ending of “The Walking Dead”.
