While Bradley Cooper lends his voice to Raccoon Rocket in his appearances in the MCU in the original version, it’s actor Fahri Yardim in the German version – at least that was the case for many years. But many fans are now concerned that this is no longer the case. Finally, in the current trailer for “Guardians of the Galaxy part 3clearly didn’t hear Fahri Yardim as Rocket. It’s much more about Jan-David Rönfeldt (best known as the German voice of action star Scott Adkins).
Listen for yourself here:
First of all, that’s nothing to worry about. Especially early trailer synchros don’t (!) match the movie synchros. They are shot separately and the scenes are later set to completely new music. Even if you try to allocate the last speakers for trailers, it doesn’t always work – especially in one case, it’s very rare: with so-called celebrity synchros. Such is the case with Rocket. No experienced voice actor was brought in here, but a well-known actor with a characteristic voice: Fahri Yardim!
On the one hand, it should not necessarily have time to rush to the dubbing studio for a pure trailer recording and, above all, be much too expensive. For example, Disney did not rely on Yardim in several trailers for “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2”. Even then Rönfeldt could be heard on Rocket, at least in the later film Yardim. Here’s an example:
But what about the “Holiday Special”?
However, some fans now object that both the “Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special” and the appearance in “I bin Groot” were not Yardim, but Jan-David Rönfeldt. So a rearrangement? We don’t believe in it. It’s much more likely that getting Yardim just wasn’t worth the few Rocket lines for these small projects for the Disney+ streaming service. Therefore, Disney resorted to the incumbent representative.
Nevertheless, we asked Disney if they could already confirm that Fahri Yardim will return for Raccoon Rocket in “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3”. If we get an answer, we will inform you. However, it is quite possible that a contract has not yet been concluded (and therefore there is nothing to report or confirm). After all, “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3” won’t hit theaters until May 3, 2023. It will be some time before the actual dubbing work begins. But still: First of all, don’t worry. We believe Yardim will return until we hear otherwise. In any case, the trailer and the specials on Disney + are not an indication of a cast change in our opinion. Rather, they were to be expected as they are standard behavior in the industry.
