James Gunn is known for communicating very openly and using short message services like Twitter to communicate directly with fans. He took to Twitter this weekend to answer a lot of fan questions about his recently released The Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special (aka Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2.5) on Disney+, but mostly about his upcoming plans with Comic Forge DC.
familiar Gunn became a co-producer Peter Saffron (“Aquaman”, “Shazam!”) to lead DC Movies and ultimately create a cohesive world, as Kevin Feige has done for so long and successfully at Marvel. Gunn is in the thick of it now, even if he still has a bit of balancing to do between his new DC job and contractual promotional obligations for Marvel until the theatrical release of “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3” in early May.
Right now I’m making the plan for the next ten years of DC movies and at the same time fulfilling my responsibilities for the things I’ve already made, as I will until May.

A canon for DC: film and series – but also animation and video games!
As James Gunn once again explicitly clarified when fans asked, he is responsible for all DC adjustments. Films and series are subordinate to him, be it live action or animation. And video games are also part of his work. The only thing he does not have access to is the comics themselves, but a lively exchange takes place here.
Gunn also clarified that he will use it to create a cohesive universe. As is currently the case with Marvel, series will also emerge in the future that will be set in the world of upcoming DC movies such as “aquarius 2“,”the flash” and co. are located. Gunn also explicitly includes animated projects in this canon. There will also be animated series that take place in the same world as Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman or Henry Cavill’s Superman. Video games should also be part of this coherent universe.
Yes, most definitely, the DCU will be connected to film and TV (and animation). https://t.co/IIIqkMJkuW

Yes

However, that does not mean that all projects are now necessarily arranged in a canon, one coherent story. When asked if there were any animated or live-action series that didn’t take place in this big world, Gunn repeatedly said yes. But it should be an exception. Even if he repeatedly talks about series or animation projects, we can assume that this also applies to cinema films (especially the sequel to “Joker”, probably also the sequel to “The Batman”).
Yes a bit.

When will there finally be something tangible about DC’s future?
James Gunn has not yet made any concrete announcements. He does not reveal films or series that are definitely coming. He does not name any characters he will introduce or expand on. Also not for nothing: First, the plan for the next ten years must be laid down.
But fans won’t have to wait long for more. When asked if there would be any announcements at the upcoming Comic-Con in July 2023, Gunn explained that he’d be surprised if there wasn’t at least something more heard sooner.
I’d be surprised if you didn’t hear more before then.

By the way, don’t expect any leaks at this point, as Gunn has repeatedly made clear in recent days and weeks. At the moment, only he and Safran are talking. Even Warner boss David Zaslav still doesn’t know about their plans. So there are no ways that anything could leak.
James Gunn takes his fans’ concerns away
In addition to all these answers about DC’s future, Gunn also addressed a concern of many fans. In addition to this task as the new DC boss, will he still have time to make films himself? He will “write and direct select DC projects,” Gunn said. So he is not thinking about giving up his previous career as a writer and director.
I will continue to write and direct selected DC projects.

But it is very likely that his focus will be entirely on DC. When asked if he would develop and implement original material in addition to comic adaptations, he did not respond. After all, he should have his hands full with DC for many years to come.
That shouldn’t be a problem for most fans. You are now optimistic that someone is at the helm who wants to develop and follow a plan that also communicates openly. Many fans are therefore optimistic that golden times are finally dawning for DC and their favorite heroes such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and co.
