Also this week, Netflix has a number of attractive new releases on offer. The new series from master director Tim Burton, who now works with Netflix instead of Disney, starts today, November 23, 2022, and breathes new life into the ‘Addams Family’ with ‘Wednesday’. Starting today, you can watch 8 episodes of what the eponymous sadistic progeny of the creepy family is up to.
In addition, “Blood, Sex & Royalty” is a historical documentary series that attempts to spice up the subject with a focus on sex, violence and wickedness. It worked for the author of these lines – I’m hooked and really looking forward to learning something new.
“Wednesday”: comeback of the “old” Tim Burton?
The Netflix horror comedy series “Wednesday” promises bitter entertainment – in the style of the old “Addams Family” series and movies and also evokes memories of Tim Burton’s glorious days as a director – because he not only produced the series, but also directed four of the eight episodes.
So fans can hope that the series feels a lot like an extended Tim Burton movie. Burton, known for his very own handwriting for many scary-beautiful fairy tales such as “Edward Scissorhands” or “Sleepy Hollow”, and the popular brand are a perfect match either way.
It was rumored beforehand that Tim Burton’s former favorite actor Johnny Depp could also appear in the series – but sadly there is no trace of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star in “Wednesday”. Unfortunately, this message was alone about a fan request circulating on the internet – we’ll probably have to wait a while for a reunion between Johnny Depp and Tim Burton, if it ever happens again.
And that’s what “Wednesday” is all about
Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) is the cold-blooded offspring of the Addams family. Making friends has never been her thing – neither in a regular high school nor in the quirky Nevermore Academy, where sirens, werewolves, vampires and other adventurous creatures are among her classmates.
In addition, her supernatural abilities are slowly awakening in her body – a circumstance that makes her life even more difficult. Perfectly normal teenage problems. And if all this wasn’t enough, the city is suddenly rocked by a relentless series of murders. Wednesday tries to track down the culprit and discovers an old mystery surrounding the place that also seems to involve her parents (Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luiz Gusmán).
Hot Monarchs and Historical Flirts in “Blood, Sex & Royalty”
Well, historical documentaries are boring. Back then, Kaiser Wilhelm was signing something somewhere. snore! But history doesn’t have to be boring like the Netflix docuseries”Blood, sex and royaltiesjwants to prove. This spices up the instructive transfer of information with a good pinch of sex and violence – Netflix itself would like to use expert interviews to “provide insights into the lives of the deadliest, hottest and most legendary monarchs in history”.
From today you can see for yourself whether the concept works and whether you even remove some knowledge at the end. The trailer gives a little insight:
