What does the relaxation method NSDR really do?

I admit: I’m a pretty stressed person. It’s hard for me to just shut down the system and I’m not very good at mediation. This is too complicated for me. However, I want to do something about my stress. I pricked my ears when I came across the Virtusan health app: the app promises profound relief after just 10 minutes of NSDR.

NSDR? The abbreviation stands for “Non-Sleep Deep Rest” and A mix of nap and meditation. The method was invented by Andrew D. Huberman (47), one of the USA’s best-known scientists. He works in neurobiology at Stanford University in California and runs a YouTube channel for the health podcast, which is watched by 1.7 million people. He is one of the famous scientists supporting the holistic health approach of health practice Virtusan, made in Switzerland (see box).

NSDR can be performed anywhere

In an explanatory video on the Virtusan app, Huberman explains what the benefits of NSDR are—whether in the morning when you don’t get enough sleep, when you wake up in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep, or when you have a minor fit of fatigue or stress at the office. As I said, very short downtimes are enough to slow down. “No matter how much time you have, it works. Ten minutes, twenty minutes, thirty minutes, anything helps.” Virtusan app always has affordable programs. “It’s simple,” Huberman sums up. “You passively listen to a text that takes you to deep relaxation. Once in a while, how You get instructions on how to focus or visualize.

So you turn it off completely. This convinced me and I decided to try NSDR in a week of work. I shoot straight from Monday to Friday. In the video above you can find out how my self-test actually went and how relieved I really felt!

I can’t wait for a little break

But this much I can reveal: In the middle of the week, I was looking forward to my little 10-minute break in the morning to organize my thoughts. Many may now be thinking: “What a luxury it is to have time for this!” But to be honest: Anyone can take those 10 minutes – at lunch, for example.

I know many people feel the same as me. They are stressed, busy, and dealing with ever-increasing pressure. It’s much more important to take some time out for yourself and your own mental health in between. Even if it’s just 10 minutes a day with NSDR. My advice: try it and be surprised how good it is for you!
