To help you keep up with the streaming jungle, as we do every week, we’ve rounded up the most interesting new arrivals to Netflix. Fans of the mystery series “Dark” can look forward to Thursday’s new series from the creative minds behind the mindfuck time travel series featuring “1899”. For those who prefer fantasy entertainment for the whole family, “Slumberland” with “Aquaman” star Jason Momoa may be for you. Otherwise, there are beautiful people and a lot of bare skin in the sixth season of “Elité”. If you really want to make it hard, you can also check out the “Teletubbies” reboot. The “Tubbie Madness” starts on Netflix on Monday.
Here’s an overview of the most interesting Netflix launches for the week of November 14-20, 2022, as always neatly sorted by day of the week.
Monday: Teletubbies and Anxiety Attacks
Not necessarily a watch recommendation, but we don’t want to hide that Tinky-Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa, and Po will say “Hello!” on Netflix will say. With the “Teletubbies“-Reboot one of the most hated children’s shows of all time flickers the screens again with new episodes. While we don’t think the pop culture phenomenon of the late ’90s will repeat itself, we’re excited to see the Teletubbies now roaming free on Netflix.
Otherwise, there’s the new Jonah Hill movie this Monday. The ‘Superbad’ actor has returned to the director’s chair after his critically acclaimed debut film ‘Mid90s’ “support“ made a documentary about his longtime friend and therapist Phil Stutz. This has helped him come to grips with his recurring anxiety attacks associated with film production. The result is an open and honest confrontation with one’s own weaknesses and concerns. Not only interesting for Jonah Hill fans.
Tuesday: No exciting restarts
There are no significant reboots today. If you don’t want to let the reboot of “Teletubbies” boil your brain and don’t fancy a therapy session with Jonah Hill, today is your chance to catch up on some of the highlights from the past week. For example, how about the fifth season of “The Crown” or the historic battlefield “Medieval”?
Wednesday: According to the audience, the most boring movie of all time and a miracle in Ireland
We’ve got another movie alert for you! Of “Fifty Shades of grey“ the streaming service with the red N not only included a film that was mercilessly torn up by the international trade press in its program, no, even the viewers couldn’t get anything from the film. In 2017, the wannabe erotic film was voted the most boring film of all time in a poll. This isn’t particularly representative, of course, but it’s kind of funny nonetheless. If you still want to check out the snoring love story, we recommend leaving a comfy pillow within reach.
If you’re in the mood for some sophisticated entertainment, you’re welcome to watch the costume movie “The miracle“ by “A Fantastic Woman – Una Mujer Fantástica” director Sebastián Lelio to heart. This is about a young girl (Kíla Lord Cassidy) from the Irish Midlands in 1862 who suddenly stops eating but miraculously stays alive. English nurse Lib Wright (Florence Pugh) is supposed to take on this wondrous story and examine the girl. But as soon as she arrives, she realizes that more and more pilgrims are coming to the village to see the miracle with her own eyes. Meanwhile, the girl is getting worse. Is this really a miracle, or are there deceptive forces at work?
Thursday: The new series “Dark” makers
“1899“ is one of the most anticipated series of the year. This is probably mainly due to the internationally acclaimed “Dark” series also coming from the creators of “1899”. Can German creative duo Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese continue the success of their time travel mindfuck Netflix production? In any case, the first trailers made us very curious: ghost ships, mysterious events on the high seas and a secret cult? What the hell is going on in this new series? As of today, we finally get some answers…
In addition to this absolute series highlight, the start of the third season of the bitter comedy series “Dead to me“ almost a little below. And that is doubly unfortunate, because the black humorous series will also come to an end this season. So if you’re in the mood for the wonderfully harmonious actresses Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini, who perform in this series as a wonderfully lovable and also extremely deadly duo, then don’t miss the final season of “Dead To Me”.
And another crazy little documentary series starting this week on Netflix: In 1996, Pepsi and Coca-Cola fought for supremacy in the American market and trumped each other in a crazy advertising war. Pepsi launched the “Pepsi Stuff” ad campaign, where rewards could be purchased in exchange for loyalty points – the ad for the campaign also featured a jet that could be exchanged for a whopping 7 million loyalty points. An obvious promotional stunt. But a teenager from America was very thirsty and desperately wanted his own jet. The Netflix Documentary “Pepsi, where’s my jet?“ follows John Leonard’s frenzied struggle as he battles the soda maker to fulfill his dream of owning his own jet.
Friday: Slumberland with Jason Momoa and lots of bare skin
Oh, just snuggle into Jason Momoa’s muscular arms and doze off – that would be something, wouldn’t it? Can you now! In the brightly colored and family-friendly fantasy film “slumberland“ The actor “Aquaman” takes us on a journey to the world of dreams. The film is based on Winsor McCay’s Little Nemo In Slumberland comic series. The trailers certainly promise a turbulent fantasy spectacle.
If you don’t feel like going into a sugar shock coma before bedtime with Jason Momoa, maybe you can with the new season “Elite” to start something. The series hit is now in its sixth round and as usual there is a lot of bare skin and unbridled young people. After last season’s shocking finale, fans are of course eagerly awaiting the new episodes.
But maybe not everyone wants to be seduced by beautiful and scantily clad people. If you’re looking for a suitable alternative program, you can take a look at the brothers Tassilo and Pottkop (in the original Cuphead and Mugman). This experience in new episodes of the animated series “The Cuphead Show!“ all kinds of adventures and you have to face all kinds of opponents from the colorful and crazy Cuphead world, which is based on the cartoons of the 1930s.
Saturday & Sunday: No exciting restarts
What a week! Be it erotic, mindfuck or family friendly fantasy. There should have been something for everyone this week. As usual with Netflix, there are no exciting reboots this weekend. So it’s time to catch up on the streaming highlights of the week or get in the mood for the next Netflix week. Among other things, the first season of Tim Burton’s weird series “Addams Family” starts with “Wednesday” at the streaming giant.
