Before the Western genre reinvented itself with more dramatic and brutal interpretations of the Wild West, this genre of film flourished in all sorts of fast-paced, fleet-footed ways. But unlike many epochal late westerns and exaggerated western tearjerkers, many gems of this country’s short and sharp action westerns are only sporadically found on Blu-ray.
For a long time this also applied to “Drums of Death”. Even on DVD, it’s been hard to get hold of lately, as previous editions of the tight western hit have long since sold out at many online retailers. However, both have now stopped: “Drums of Death” celebrates its German Blu-ray premiere this week and has also been re-released on DVD.
