Apparently someone is doing it right: James Gunn (“Guardians Of The Galaxy”, “The Suicide Squad”) has been co-heading the newly formed DC Studios with producer Peter Safran since late October 2022. And as one of his first acts, he promised not only to make the DCU ‘the greatest story ever told’, but… apparently also immediately announced a possible new project: “lobo“.
Strictly speaking, the new project isn’t actually true, and neither is the announcement: Rumors and reports of a movie about the constantly swearing, chain-smoking alien bounty hunter and motorcyclist have been going around for years — most recently a “Lobo” movie was put back on in 2018 . At the time, “Transformers” director Michael Bay was supposed to take care of the project, but nothing came of it.

And even if the “Lobo” excitement in the social media is currently high again, Strictly speaking, James Gunn hasn’t officially announced anything yet. He’s only been on the Twitter alternative created an account and shared a photo of Lobo as the first post there (with the caption “Nice to be here”). You can see the photo here on Mastodon.
Is Lobo Jason Momoa’s dream role?
But there are other developments fueling the “Lobo” rumors – and here we finally get to Jason Momoa: he already existed in the wake of James Gunn’s promotion to DC boss on record that under the supervision of Gunn and Safran, one of his dreams would come true.
of the page Momoa was now asked if this statement and Gunn’s possible Lobo teaser were related. Momoa’s response, which comes with a big wink: “Well, everyone knows I’m a comic book fan. The comic book series I’ve collected the most, every issue of which I have… you can find out for yourself which one it is.”
Jason Momoa’s response to @JamesGunnLobo’s post is very interesting. 👀https://t.co/yRNcEl18pP pic.twitter.com/X6wprjv8qj

So that’s another possible clue, mainly because Momoa has indicated several times in the past that he likes Lobo. would like to play or could well imagine this role. Quite apart from the fact that many fans of Momoa as an intergalactic bounty hunter seem to be excited.
Nevertheless, the whole matter should still be treated with great caution at this point, if only because Momoa is already part of the DC universe as Aquaman and the role of Arthur Curry will be reprised at least in the upcoming “Aquaman 2”. If there really is a “Lobo” movie and Momoa takes over the role, it will definitely be announced in time.
