Shock “The Witcher”: Henry Cavill Gets Out – Here’s His Successor

if “The Witcher‘ goes into season four, we will Liam Hemsworth see in the lead. The brother of Marvel star Chris Hemsworth is best known for the “Hunger Games” series, but has also appeared in “The Expendables 2” and “Independence Day 2”. In a statement about the staff change, Hemsworth describes himself as a “‘Witcher’ fan”. He was “honoured” that Cavill, who was “an incredible Geralt”, appointed him as his successor.

It has not been disclosed why Henry Cavill is so surprisingly leaving the “The Witcher” series. The actor only announced in a statement that he is laying down his swords for season four. He is curious what Liam Hemsworth will do with the character. Here’s his full statement for you:

Henry Cavill’s Full Farewell Statement

“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with monsters and dangers and unfortunately I will be laying down my medal and swords for season four. In my place, the wonderful Liam Hemsworth will take the mantle of the White Wolf. As is customary with the greatest literary figures, I pass the torch in awe as I mimicked Geralt and excited to see what Liam will make of this intriguing and most nuanced man. Dear Liam, there is such wonderful depth to this character, have fun with it and see what you find.

No more time for the Witcher after Superman’s comeback?

At the moment, one can only speculate about the reasons for the parting. The bottom line, of course, is that Henry Cavill’s busy schedule doesn’t have time for extensive filming of entire “The Witcher” seasons – especially not with the latest developments. He is now back as Superman at DC where he is expected to be a part of several film projects. This may not be compatible with “The Witcher”, especially since Cavill has many other movie roles. He has just been announced to star in Guy Ritchie’s new action thriller.

In any case, it has already been leaked that Cavill originally signed only a three-year contract, so it was now in his power not to renew it and devote himself to other duties.

So while DC fans cheer on Cavill’s comeback, The Witcher fans are slowly saying goodbye to him. But before that, they see their star again. The third season of “The Witcher‘ – still starring Henry Cavill – is slated to hit Netflix in the summer of 2023.
