Is ‘Black Adam’ Breaking With ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’? This is the real reason behind a big change

When the titular antihero, played by Dwayne Johnson, meets Superman (Henry Cavill) in the end credits scene of Black Adam, then… we see the legendary Man of Steel in his famous blue and red outfit. Angry voices mixed with all the joy at Cavill’s comeback. Some fans who, despite all the cancellations, are still hoping for a DC Zack Snyder comeback and who regard “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” and not the theatrical release “Justice League” as the canon narrative have complained of a hiatus, sometimes even a betrayal. Because in Snyder’s version, Superman now wears a black suit.

However, these fans are interpreting way too much into the suit color discussion – because those in charge probably didn’t give it that much thought when the scene was staged at extremely short notice and was only shot a few weeks before the cinema. As Henry Cavill now revealed, there was a very different reason to wear blue and red again.

Henry Cavill wore this Superman suit for nostalgic reasons

In the podcast Henry Cavill explained why he chose the Man Of Steel suit: “I specifically chose this suit because there is so much nostalgia associated with it. It was important to me to stand here and enjoy the moment. It’s one of the pinnacle moments of my career. It feels great to be able to wear it again.”

It all started with “Man Of Steel”. Henry Cavill landed his dream role as Superman. However, after Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice and Justice League, it all seemed over. The old DC leadership didn’t want him anymore. Cavill reveals that he has since given up all hope of playing Superman again. Now that Black Adam is a reboot, it makes sense that he wears the suit that started it all, not the one first shown when Cavill thought he would never play Superman again.

“Justice League” vs. “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” – in the end it doesn’t matter

Ultimately, though, the Snyder Cut army cannot hope that their wish to restore their favorite director’s grand story plan will come true. The new DC executives, The Suicide Squad director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran, may not want to dwell on discussions of this past, preferring instead to tell new stories without letting old storylines kick in.

“Black Adam” is currently in German cinemas.
