Every month, Netflix users can look forward to a lot of new content on the streaming platform. Especially at the beginning of the month there is always a concentrated load of films and series. The downer here: To make room for supplies, numerous licensed titles are thrown out of the program first. This inflicts sometimes very bitter, sometimes bearable losses for the Netflix portfolio.
Fortunately, with the transition from October to November, the sadness of the majority of disappearing films should remain limited, with one very large exception. We’ll give you an overview of these and the other big titles and other highlights so you can check them out in time, because there are only a few days left before.
The films and series below can all only be seen on Netflix until October 31, 2022.
Masterpiece: “LA Confidential”
If you can only find time for one of the films in the next few days, then you should definitely make a reservation for “LA confidential“ to decide. The masterful neo-noir thriller received a full 5 stars in the FILMSTARTS review and is for us one of the best films of all time. The bottomless tale of a gruesome multiple homicide and the thoroughly corrupt 1950s Los Angeles police force impresses with its cleverly convoluted and twisted narrative, an atmosphere to cut and the star squad surrounding Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, Kevin Spacey, Kim Basinger and Danny DeVito. An absolute must for all movie fans!
Horror: “Insidious 2 & 3”
Meanwhile, horror fans with a Netflix subscription should “Treacherous: Chapter 2“ and “Treacherous: Chapter 3“ Say goodbye. The ghost-crawler sequel and prequel from “Conjuring” and “Saw” creator James Wan isn’t quite as strong as the series’ beginnings, but still (and unlike the failed fourth installment) offers a fun and scary addition the firstborn.
Action with the Transformers, Liam Neeson and a star cast
When it comes to action, Netflix’s offerings should lose some feathers at the end of October. Really worth seeing, highlights not included here but if you’ve always seen the at least half way funny sequels “Transformers 2“, “Transformers 3“ and “Transformers 5: The Last Knight“ wanted to look, you have to hurry. The same goes for the Liam Neeson Berserker Show “96 hours – taken 2“.
And also “The Expendables 3“ flies out, for which we wouldn’t recommend (it’s the weakest part of the series), which combines the already impressive star ensemble around Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jason Statham, but at least the big names Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes and Antonio Banderas and of course it can’t hurt to prepare for “The Expendables 4” from 2023.
These highlights also disappear from Netflix
- “cache“: “Funny Games” director Michael Haneke’s usual haunting drama about a married couple whose lives are thrown off balance when mysterious videotapes are sent to them (3.5 stars)
- “passengers“: Intimate sci-fi love story starring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence, who wake up prematurely from hibernation on a colony spaceship (3.5 stars)
- “The way back – the long way“: Star-studded adventure drama about the daring escape from a 1940s Soviet prison camp (3.5 stars)
- “Elite Trophy“: Powerful action thriller about a paramilitary special forces unit in Rio de Janeiro starring “Narcos” star Wagner Moura (3.5 stars)
- “The jury“: Film adaptation of court thriller expert John Grisham’s novel with an all-star cast including Matthew McConaughey, Sandra Bullock and Samuel L. Jackson (no FILMSTARTS rating)
- “maximum risk“: Formerly declared cult action thriller starring martial arts pro Jean-Claude van Damme (no FILMSTARTS rating)
- “Jason and the Argonauts“: Fantasy classic for fans of Greek mythology, inventing groundbreaking creature designs and stop-motion effects (no MOVIE STARTS rating)
- “Space Patrol Orion“: The seven-part German answer to “Spaceship Enterprise” and an almost equally iconic milestone in the sci-fi series
The gaps left by the migrating Netflix titles will be filled in early November with the complete series “Hunger Games” and the grandiose boxing drama “The Fighter”. Here’s what to expect on Netflix at the start of the month and throughout November:
