From today there are many “LOL” supplies – with an absolute comedy legend who has been on stage for 60 (!) years

A number of top comedy stars have already graced the crazy, no-laughing arena of the comedy hit “LOL: Last One Laughing” – from the inimitable Anke Engelke and Bastian Pastewka to “Stromberg” Christoph Maria Herbst and improv talent Teddy Teclebrhan to original Berliner Kurt Krömer and the now sadly deceased Mirco Nontschew, to name just a few.

But such legendary status as one of the “LOL” newcomers in the starting today, March 28, 2024, on Amazon Prime Video fifth “LOL” season no one has had it yet. We are of course talking about Otto Waalkes. With legendary comedy programs, musical numbers, TV appearances, dubbing work and cinema hits such as his films ‘Otto’ or ‘7 Dwarves’, the now 75-year-old East Frisian has had a decisive influence on the German comedy landscape and fans of different generations since the 1960s in relief.

Otto is simply a cult – and that alone is likely to cause fear and terror among his ‘LOL’ competitors. After all, the hit Amazon show is all about making others laugh without laughing yourself. But the other participants can also be seen again…

These are the participants of the 5th season “LOL: Last One Laughing”

Once again, ten well-known personalities from the entertainment industry will compete in the six-hour ‘LOL’ competition under the watchful eye of host and referee Michael Bully Herbig, three of whom have already participated in previous seasons. Included are:

  • Otto Waalkes: Cult comedian and Ottifanten inventor
  • Ina Muller: presenter and singer
  • Elyas M’Barek: Actor, known for “Fack ju Göhte”
  • Melt Kaptan: presenter and comedian
  • Mirja Boes: Comedian, actress and singer
  • Ralf Schmitz: Comedian and presenter
  • Michael Kessler: Comedian and presenter
  • Torsten Strater: Comedian (winner season 1, present for the second time)
  • Olaf Schubert: Stage and TV comedian (participating for the second time)
  • Hazel Brugger: Stage and TV comedian (participating for the third time)

Anyone who laughs twice gets thrown out. And whoever survives in the end wins 50,000 euros for a good cause. Because the six episodes now appear in a double package on three Thursdays, the winner will be chosen on April 11. We don’t have to wait a whole year until there is more “LOL” stock. After an interseasonal Christmas special in 2023, a Halloween special has been announced for October 2024.
