The film studio 20th Century Fox has released the first teaser for ‘Alien: Romulus’. It is a sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1979 science fiction classic ‘Alien’. The series contains a total of six films. The last film, ‘Alien: Covenant’, was released in 2017.
“Alien: Romulus” aims to return to the roots of the original. The focus is on a group of young space colonists who are confronted with the most terrifying life form in the universe on an abandoned space station.
The new science fiction film is set between the first ‘Alien’ film and James Cameron’s sequel ‘Aliens’ (1986).
The cast consists of new actresses and actors. Since Sigourney Weaver’s character Ripley was in a cold sleep between these two films, a cameo is unlikely. The film stars Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu.
Star director Ridley Scott is back on board. He is producing the film together with Michael Pruss and Walter Hill. Directed by Fede Alvarez. This is best known from horror films such as ‘Evil Dead’ and ‘Don’t Breathe’.
Originally, ‘Alien: Romulus’ would not have been shown in theaters and would have been released directly on the Disney Plus streaming service. Just like Predator’s prequel, Prey, before it. But due to the large number of viewers and positive feedback from fans, Disney has changed its mind and the new ‘Alien’ movie is being shown on the big screen.
‘Alien: Romulus’ can be seen in cinemas in German-speaking Switzerland from August 15, 2024.
