These 15 actors wanted their film or series character to die

When your favorite character in a series or film series dies, it’s not always an easy pill to swallow. But it also happens time and again that actresses go to the producers and demand that their character die. Sometimes even with a dramatic ending.

The following 15 actors did just that. Not everyone was granted this wish.

After his second ‘Star Wars’ film, Harrison Ford wanted his character Han Solo to die. “I felt that he was interested in the other two characters [Luke Skywalker und Prinzessin Leia Organa] have to sacrifice,” Ford tells Den of Geek. He went to George Lucas with this idea and said: “Han Solo has no parents, he has no future. He has no important responsibilities at this time, so let’s allow him to sacrifice himself.”

Sophie Turner wanted a big death scene in ‘Game of Thrones’. ‘I want her to avenge the death of her family. But after that, Sansa should die and Littlefinger should be on the throne,” Turner says in an interview with Just Jared. Turner also knows how Sansa should die: “Something that lasts an entire episode, like a poisoning. Just a very long death .”

Jamie Lee Curtis only returned to the ‘Halloween’ saga on the condition that her character died. “They have to kill me in the first ten minutes of the movie because I killed an innocent man and my character can’t live with that,” she told Syfy. However, she returned to the film series in 2017.

Another “Star Wars” actor who wanted his character to die is Sir Alec Guinness. He played Obi Wan in ‘Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope’, ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and ‘Return of the Jedi’. “I just couldn’t say those damn horrible sentences anymore. “I had enough of this nonsense,” he tells Entertainment Weekly.

Both Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder (who played the main characters Stefan and Damon) were convinced that their characters had to die as “The Vampire Diaries” neared its end. “We wanted the brothers to go out with a bang,” Wesley tells Buzzfeed. Somerhalder says he would find it “poetic if the two brothers disappear and the people then return to their town [Mystic Falls] to get used to”.

Another actor who also can’t stand his role as 007 is Daniel Craig. “I really thought I would just make one Bond film and it would be over. Then we realized we had a blow on our hands. I asked, “How much more?” Barbara [Broccoli, die Produzentin] said, ‘Four!’ I said, ‘Okay. Can I kill him next?’ She said, ‘Yes.’

Johnny Depp was tired of playing his character Tom Hanson on the hit series “21 Jump Street.” For him, creativity was lost over time; it was always the same old news. He reportedly did “everything he could” to get fired, including vandalizing his trailer on set. He later agreed to reprise his role for the film “21 Jump Street,” only on the condition that his character be killed off.

Before the fourth ‘Fast and Furious’ movie hit theaters, Paul Walker said he wanted out: “I thought we were done after the second, then came the third and this time it was Vin [Diesel], who called and said, ‘Hey, let’s do another one.’ I think he wants to do a fifth.” Walker went to the director and requested that his character Brian O’Conner die in the film, but he refused.

In 2013, during the filming of the seventh part, Walker died in a car accident. His character has been written out of the film saga.

Mischa Barton didn’t necessarily ask to die in “OC, California,” but she specifically chose for her character to end up that way. When she decided to leave the series, her character Marissa had two options: sail into the sunset or be killed. She chose the latter, calling Marissa’s death a “great ending” and “memorable.”
