New on Netflix this week: the finale of a current highlight of the series and the new science fiction epic from the makers of ‘Game Of Thrones’

In the second half of a month, Netflix often shows slightly less than in the first 15 days. That will also be the case next week – but there is still plenty of new content. Series fans in particular will get their money’s worth. True crime fans can look forward to a new project from an absolute TV veteran, followed by the highly anticipated sci-fi epic ‘3 Body Problem’.

So no big preamble. Here we have for you the highlights of the Netflix week from March 18 to 24, 2024 – as always, sorted by day of the week and selected based on what many of you will find particularly interesting.

Monday: Contents Royal Double

The third and final season of has been available since March 11, 2024Young royals on Netflix – and it’s incredibly successful. The entire third season? No, something was still missing. Because Netflix only released five of the six episodes. The grand finale follows on Monday – and that’s not all.

Because after you can stream the latest episode from the early morning hours, it will follow at 6 p.m Young royals forever. In a special, those involved in the successful Swedish series look back on the entire period.

Tuesday: Muscle content

The popular Korean reality show “Physics 100” continues Tuesday on Netflix. Once again, 100 muscular candidates will compete to prove what they can get out of their steel bodies in various competitions and games. After each game and round, some are discarded – until one or two remains. The first season thrilled audiences and became the most successful non-English language reality show on Netflix.

Wednesday: True Crime content

Dick Wolf does TV crime legend of American television – mainly thanks to “Law & Order”. The series, which originally aired for twenty seasons from 1990 to 2010, is considered the ultimate crime classic and has returned in 2021. There were also numerous spin-offs. Wolf also created the ‘FBI’ franchise with three series to date and the ‘Chicago’ franchise with four series, among others. What they all have in common is that the scripts are often inspired by real cases – in the case of the spin-off ‘Law & Order True Crime’ they are even explicitly inspired. It was only logical that Wolf would also venture into the true crime genre and produce several documentary and reality series.

Now Netflix has achieved a real coup. The successful producer is making his new true crime project for the streaming service where true crime is especially popular: In Murder case: New York (not to be confused with the existing true crime series “New York Homicide” available on WOW) looks back at some true murder cases from New York’s recent history. Of course, since it’s a Dick Wolf series, it becomes a franchise. ‘Homicide: Los Angeles’ will be released later in 2024. Even more is certainly not out of the question.

Thursday: epic content

Liu Cixin’s Trisolaris novel trilogy has been celebrated by science fiction fans for years. Now the long-awaited adaptation has arrived – and it’s also the first new project for which ‘Game Of Thrones’ creators David Benioff and DB Weiss have returned to work as showrunners since the end of their fantasy hit. Together with their colleague Alexander Woo, they now want to show that they can also do sci-fi.

3 body problem tells a complex story set on different time levels about the impending arrival of aliens on Earth in the future…

Friday: feature film content

The Netflix week has so far been all about series and shows. But on Friday there is also something for film lovers. The biopic is brand new Shirley by “12 Years A Slave” author John Ridley. Starring Regina King in the title role, the filmmaker tells how Shirley Chisholm, the first black woman elected to the US Congress, tried to win the 1972 Democratic primaries for the US presidency. By the way, Lance Reddick (“John Wick”), who died in 2023, is also there in one of his last roles.

Top names also lead the cast Red eye – more precisely, newly minted “Oppenheimer” Oscar winner Cillian Murphy and Rachel McAdams (“Like a Single Day”). In the 2005 thriller by horror master Wes Craven (“Scream”), who died in 2015, a woman on board a night flight is suddenly blackmailed by the person sitting next to her. It must enable an assassination attempt.
