What exactly the long-awaited crossover will look like, which will finally bring the two iconic comic book characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is still a closely guarded secret. But With Jackman making his MCU debut, a dream he previously expressed could become a reality – at least in theory…

In an interview with The 55-year-old wanted a crossover between the ‘X-Men’ and the Avengers crew in 2013 (on the occasion of his second solo adventure ‘Wolverine: Way of the Warrior’). Because this would allow him to finally face one of the most popular Marvel heroes of them all: Tony Stark, better known as Iron Man.

At the time, the two franchises were still separate cinema universes, but since Disney acquired 20th Century Studios (formerly 20th Century Fox), the previously separate worlds have become closer together – with “Deadpool & Wolverine” being the highlight for the time being. which of course opens the doors for further screen toppings.

“I recently asked: ‘I don’t know what the legal situation is, but why don’t these companies come together? Why can’t that be?’” Jackman wondered about ten years ago, when the merger of Disney and Fox was still in the future. “Personally, I would like that Robert Downey Jr. and take on Iron Man and kick his ass. That would be great! There you have it, that’s your quote!”
