For a period of four months, a man from Florida (USA) suffered from severe, persistent headaches. The 52-year-old man went to the hospital when he couldn’t stand it anymore. And what was discovered is quite unpleasant.
As the “American Journal of Case Reports” writes, doctors found tapeworms, or rather pork tapeworm eggs, in his brain. These probably came from the undercooked bacon the man ate for breakfast every day. Later, larvae emerged from the eggs.
Treatment with dewormer
These eggs can also infect other people, experts told the New York Post. This is when the person in question does not wash their hands properly after defecation. However, it is quite unusual to encounter such contaminated pork in the United States.
The man was treated with a dewormer, which led to an improvement in his health two weeks later. The headache is gone.
