Today Arlette Koch is able to walk normally again and do her job as a health masseuse without any problems. This was not always the case: her heel hurt her so much that she had trouble walking. “Actually, I can take the pain pretty well, but it was torture, especially right after I got up in the morning.”
What happened? “Suddenly I felt a sharp pain in the middle of my heel. It got worse,” says the 60-year-old nurse, who completed her medical masseuse training and also works as a therapist. Diagnosis: heel spur. This is a spur-like bony growth on the heel bone that is usually caused by improper and overexertion.
Koch looked for a solution to the problem and found it in an Anova shoe. Half a year later all the pain was gone. Along with shoes, insoles, and her own pressure wave therapy, she says she improved her posture. She stopped taking painkillers but luckily she didn’t need surgery.
Help with different problems
Arlette Koch is far from the only person whose Anova shoes have helped her control problems. They can also be helpful for other health problems and pains.
Andreas Grimm, Managing Director of Orthopedics Bähler and Orthogroup, says: “We have already been able to help many of our customers with problems with hallux valgus, flat feet or flat feet, heel spurs or arthrosis, rheumatism and knee and hip problems.” The shoes would be perfect for use with custom orthoses and would do everything a healthy shoe should.
It is popular with many professionals who have to stand and move around all day, such as gastronomy, nursing or sales. The shoes are comfortable and healthy like sneakers without looking like health shoes.
Less tired in the evening
For Lisa Petersen, podiatrist at Podotherapie Laufgsund in Dübendorf ZH, the shoe has another advantage: “When I wear it, I actually get tired less than usual in the evening. The shoe relaxes and actively helps the foot roll properly as it supports and guides.”

Shoe maker Anova says the secret behind the shoe lies in its custom construction. Each item performs a specific function. The interaction of all the elements makes walking and standing comfortable and easy, even on long days.
Like walking on natural ground
Various factors contribute to this. Therefore, the shoe has a foot-friendly mold. First of all, the toes are given enough space. Shoes that are too pointed and too tight are partly responsible for the curved position of the big toe, also known as hallux valgus, which affects about 90 percent of women.
The shoe also offers cushioning adapted to the human body. The wearer therefore always feels that their feet are walking on the natural ground: gently, but without losing touch and feel with the ground.
Podotherapist Lisa Petersen concludes from her own experience: “I can recommend the shoe to anyone who wants to walk in a healthy, comfortable and pain-free manner.”
