Two ‘NCIS’ stars return to the franchise after more than 10 (!) years – and get their own series

“Navy CIS” has been running with great success since 2003. The crime series now has more than 450 episodes in 21 seasons. It is only logical that the line-up changes slightly over time. For example, actors Coté de Pablo and Michael Weatherly left the main cast of the series more than ten years ago. While De Pablo was part of the first Guardian from the third through eleventh seasons – and then made a few cameo appearances as Special Agent Ziva David – Michael Weatherly was even part of the original cast of the ‘JAG – On Order of Honor ‘-spin- out. Until the end of the thirteenth season, he supported the investigative work as Special Agent Anthony “Tony” DiNozzo and then only returned for one episode.

However, the dream couple ‘NCIS’ remains very popular among fans. Now it has been announced that the duo will return to the franchise. However, they will no longer be seen in the parent series, instead TIVA (Tony and Ziva) will get their own, as yet untitled spin-off, which will have a total of ten episodes. The series is produced for Paramount+, with John McNamara (“Superman: The Adventures of Lois & Clark”) serving as showrunner, who will also write the script for the opening episode.

The spin-off will be an ‘action-packed rollercoaster ride’

And that’s what the series should be about: “After Ziva’s alleged death, Tony left the NCIS team to give their daughter a quiet and carefree life. But Ziva wasn’t dead. Years later, she was discovered alive and had to complete a mission before she could hug Tony and her daughter again in Paris. And this is also where the spin-off will begin.

Tony now runs a well-run security company. When it is attacked, the parents and their child have to flee together across Europe. Who wants to join them? The couple must learn to trust each other again to find out who is after them. Maybe a truly happy ending awaits Tony and Ziva after all?

In a joint statement from the acting duo, they make fans excited to see the two characters again and promise an “action-packed rollercoaster ride”:

“We’ve been talking about this story for years and now, with John McNamara at the helm, we’re ready. The world of Tony and Ziva (and daughter Tali) promises to be an action-packed rollercoaster ride full of love, danger, tears and laughter. We would also like to thank the fans from all over the world who have supported the TIVA movement for years. To this day, they greet us in grocery stores and on the street to tell us how much these characters mean to them and to ask what Tony and Ziva are up to next.

It is not yet clear when we can see the iconic duo again.
