Only in the cinema can you truly appreciate films. Not just because they come into their own better through the gigantic screens and fantastic sound systems. It is also a real refuge from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, where you can switch off at least temporarily, leave your mobile phone in your pocket and fully immerse yourself in the magical world of images and sounds.
We at FILMSTARTS love cinema and that is why we would like to introduce you to next month’s film highlights. You should definitely not miss these films in March 2024.
“Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire”: It’s back to New York
In March, the proton emitters will finally be pulled out again and some pesky ghosts will be stuffed into the traps. After the successful sequel ‘Ghostbusters: Legacy’, which established several new ghost hunters – including Paul ‘Ant-Man’ Rudd and ‘Stranger Things’ star Finn Wolfhard – the sequel is finally coming’Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire“to the cinemas.
This time, however, Jason Reitman will not be in the director’s chair, as he has made way for his colleague and ‘Monster House’ creator Gil Kenan, who will send the Ghostbusters on an icy adventure in New York. In addition to nasty creatures, there is also a reunion with old acquaintances, because the first trailers have already shown that Bill Murray & Co. will resort to the ghost trap again in the future.
From March 21, you can step into the Ecto-1 and enjoy ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ in the cinema.
“Kung Fu Panda 4”: comeback of the martial arts bear
There hasn’t been a new “Kung Fu Panda” installment in theaters in eight years. Eventually, fighting bear Po (voice in the original: Jack Black / German version: Hape Kerkeling) discovered that he is not the last of his kind and immediately met a whole tribe of cuddly panda bears.
In “Kung Fu Panda 4“, which premieres in theaters on March 14, he now leaves the Valley of Peace and must battle a new, formidable opponent: the Chameleon (Viola Davis). A true martial ace who can copy his opponents’ strategies and attacks. Not only that, it even imitates Po’s previous opponents Tai Lung (Ian McShane) and Lord Shen (Gary Orldman). How can this villain be dealt with?
“Chantal in Fairyland”: Proll Princess in Fairyland
The series “Fack ju Göhte” may not be to everyone’s taste. Still, the success at the box office is undeniable and fans love the films and the characters that emerged from the chaos at school: Chantal (Jella Haase), Danger (Max von der Groeben), Zeynep (Gizem Emre) and Zeki Müller (Elyas). M’Barek) are an absolute cult – and most viewers probably have one of these characters in their extended circle of friends.
Search now with “Chantal in fairytale land“the first spin-off finds its way to the big screen. And this will no longer take place in a school context. After all, all students of “Fack ju Göhte 3” passed their high school diploma with a bang. Instead, Chantal now tries to be an influencer sooner than ever and ends up through an enchanted mirror in a distant fairyland where she first has to clarify reactionary clichés. We are curious whether this adventure, which can be seen in cinemas nationwide from March 28, can build on the success of the series.
“German cinema does [doch] great!”: An almost unbelievable success story
Aren’t there any good films coming out of Germany? Are you joking? Are you serious? We at FILMSTARTS firmly defend ourselves against this annoying cliché and have therefore created the series “German cinema is [doch] awesome!”, in which we show you a film every month that we think is particularly worthwhile.
In “Wonderland – From childhood dream to global success“A small world becomes very big: The documentary focuses on the success story of Hamburg’s ‘Miniatur Wunderland’, which has been delighting old and young visitors from all over the world since 2000. In our FILMSTARTS review, author Oliver Kube gave it a stellar 4 out of 5 stars and draws the following conclusion:
“A visually stunning and moving documentary about a magical place that not only fulfills the makers’ childhood wish, but also invites everyone who visits the place (in real life or in the cinema) to dream.”
What else is starting?
