The watch manufacturer Hamilton, founded in 1892, looks back on a long collaboration with Hollywood. Hamilton watches have been used in more than 500 films and series – often even tailor-made products that have been specially designed. Hamilton watches recently starred in films such as ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny’. The traditional company’s timepieces have also been present in science fiction films, for example in “The Martian”, “Tenet” and “Interstellar”.
What all these films have in common is that they are set in a future world where watches are a natural part of everyday life. In the fantastic world of “Dune: Part Two” this is different. And yet Denis Villeneuve entered into a partnership with Hamilton – and even had his own prop master Doug Harlocker collaborate with the watch manufacturer.

There’s a reason why Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides and the Fremen who shelter him wear wrist devices designed specifically for the film. The rides on the legendary sandworms of Arrakis, which the Fremen have mastered and which Paul must now succeed, play an important role in ‘Dune: Part Two’. Anyone who already knows anything about the world created by science fiction author Frank Herbert knows what is incredibly important if you want to ride one of the dangerous beasts:
Riding a sandworm requires a sense of time
Rhythm and sense of time determine life on Arrakis. It is essential for the dangerous task of summoning a sandworm and transferring yourself onto its back. You can get an impression of it yourself in a pre-published video from cinema distributor Warner. Here you can see Paul’s first ride on a sandworm.
If you now want your own Hamilton watch after “Dune: Part Two,” there is good news for you. Specially developed for the outstanding sci-fi masterpiece, the “Desert Watch” is sold exclusively on the desert planet Arrakis, but Hamilton is launching two exclusive limited edition models in time for the cinema release. Both watches have an elegant blue dial, which is inspired by the glowing blue eyes of the Fremen living on Arrakis.
The Ventura XXL Bright Dune is heavily based on the original “Desert Watch” with its blue lines that light up at the touch of a button. The Ventura Edge Dune, meanwhile, features a matte black PVD coating on the housing inspired by the embossed elements of the film rack, as well as a digital time display in Fremen blue.

Both watches are only available in limited editions. There are only 3,000 of the Ventura XXL Bright and only 2,000 of the Ventura Edge. Moreover, they are delivered in high-quality packaging. These are also clearly inspired by the film and will likely delight fans of the two “Dune” films and Frank Herbert’s novels with their characters. Collectors will certainly be happy with this packaging.
If you want to know more about the watches, there is Detailed information on the Hamilton websitewhere the company’s numerous other models are of course also presented.
