‘Gauguin and the Canal’, a film about the Isthmus, arrives this month

Everything is ready for the premiere of the Panamanian feature film “Gauguin and the canal“.

It is a film directed by a Panamanian Frank Spano, producer, screenwriter and film director. The film will premiere on February 29.

The 100% Panamanian film comes to the big screen to recreate the last days in the life of the famous French painter Paul Gauguin, who, imprisoned in a cabin in Tahiti by his country’s colonial authorities, is forced to paint a new work to save his five-year-old son, struggling with disease and torn between madness and sanity, recalling the beginning of his life and artistic career in the midst of the construction of the Panama Canal in 1887.
