Even British director Alex Cox returns for this. The creator behind ‘Repo Man’ also directed films in the 1980s such as the political Western hybrid ‘Walker’ with Ed Harris and the punk rock biopic ‘Sid & Nancy’ with Gary Oldman. Over time, the loud filmmaker had a falling out with Hollywood. After being fired from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas in the late 1990s and replaced by Terry Gilliam, he made only a few low-low-budget films.
These are “Repo Man” and “Repo Man 2”
The focus of the original film is on young punk Otto (Emilio Estevez), who starts a new job at a company that, sometimes with full physical effort, replaces cars when the owners can no longer pay the installments. Under the wing of his mentor Bud (Harry Dean Stanton), he gets to know the company and soon they are both given a special assignment. They are tasked with securing the Chevrolet Malibu of a mysterious scientist. But when you open the trunk of the car, a blinding light will burn you. Because the car, which many other parties are also interested in, has a very special meaning.
“Repo Man 2: The Wages of Beer” now focuses on Otto again. He traveled through space and time in the mysterious Chevrolet Malibu and is now back on Earth. Otto has only aged 90 minutes, but the world has changed. Naturally, Emilio Estevez will not again take on the role of the main character, but rather the man known from the ‘Twilight’ series and the ‘Frontier’ series. Kiowa Gordon.

The people behind “Repo Man 2” around director Cox promise in the official announcement of the project: “an engaging mix of punk energy, existential comedy and unconventional storytelling.” They want to shed light on the absurd and chaotic world of the Repo Men in a new era with nuclear conflicts and self-driving cars.
The project will be presented at the film market currently taking place in Berlin. Filming could start soon, so a release as early as 2025 is conceivable.
