The American version of “The Office” is undisputedly one of the most popular sitcoms. There have been discussions several times about reviving the series. Last summer it was announced that Australia would now also get its own version. Bryan Cranston also recently talked about a reboot of the sitcom.
Many of the stars from ‘The Office’ are still active in show business and three of the leading actors started a podcast about ‘The Office’. Here you can discover what the stars behind the popular characters are doing today.
Although Steve Carell is better known for his humorous roles, he has taken on dramatic roles in 2014’s ‘Foxcatcher’ (for which he received his first Oscar nomination) and in 2018’s ‘Beautiful Boy’ and ‘Welcome to Marwen’. The 61-year-old also appeared in ‘The Morning Show’, ‘Space Force’ and ‘The Patient’ and played the villain Gru in the ‘Despicable Me’ film series. Carell received nine Emmy nominations as a producer and actor for “The Office,” and in 2020 he also received a nomination for his role as Mitch Kessler on “The Morning Show.” His most recent role was in Wes Anderson’s ‘Asteroid City’.
He has been married to actress Nancy Walls since 1995. They have two children together.
After her role as a popular receptionist, Jenna Fischer starred in the ABC sitcom ‘Splitting Up Together’ in 2018. The 49-year-old has also appeared in a number of films, including the remake of ‘Mean Girls’, which has been in cinemas since January.
Together with her co-star Angela Kinsey, she founded the podcast ‘Office Ladies’, which covers all topics related to ‘The Office’.

In 2007, Fischer divorced director James Gunn. She has been married to screenwriter Lee Kirk since 2010 and they have two children together.
After “The Office” ended, John Krasinski shed his goofy “boy next door” image and became CIA analyst Jack Ryan in the films of the same name. Like Carell, Krasinski also ventured into more dramatic film roles, including “13 Hours,” “Detroit” and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” He lent his voice to the animated films “Monsters University”, “Animal Crackers” and “DC League of Super-Pets”.
In addition to his roles in front of the camera, the 44-year-old also works as a director and producer. He directed the horror films “A Quiet Place” and its sequel. He received three Emmy nominations for producing “Lip Sync Battle.”
In 2019, he married actress Emily Blunt, with whom he has two daughters.
It’s hard to imagine Rainn Wilson playing anyone other than the neurotic office worker and turnip farmer, but the 58-year-old has had quite an acting career in the years since “The Office.” Wilson has made several guest appearances on series such as ‘Star Trek: Discovery’, ‘Room 104’, ‘Transparent’ and ‘The Rookie’. He had a recurring role on ‘Mom’ and starred in the science fiction series ‘Utopia’. He has also lent his voice to one of the Smurfs and Superman’s nemesis Lex Luthor in several animated projects.
Wilson has been married to the writer Holiday Reinhorn since 1995, with whom he has a son.
In 2018, she made a guest appearance on ‘Splitting Up Together’ with Fischer before launching her podcast. The 52-year-old also made guest appearances in series such as ‘New Girl’, ‘Fresh Off the Boat’ and ‘The Real O’Neals’ and played the lead role in the Netflix series ‘Haters Back Off’.
In 2016, Kinsey married actor and baker Joshua Snyder. She was previously married to writer and producer Warren Lieberstein (brother of Paul Lieberstein, who plays Toby on ‘The Office’), with whom she has a daughter.

Since ‘The Office’, Leslie David Baker has made repeated small appearances in films and series. These include “Wish I Was Here”, “The Happytime Murders” and “Hard Miles”.
In 2020, Baker launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise money to film a pilot for “The Office” spinoff series “Uncle Stan.” But nothing came of it and the 65-year-old had to cancel the project.
Brian Baumgartner continued to work as an actor in the years after the series ended. He has made guest appearances on ‘Hot in Cleveland’, ‘Criminal Minds’, ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’, ‘Chicago Fire’ and ‘The Goldbergs’, among others. The 51-year-old also appeared as a voice actor in the Netflix series ‘Trash Truck’.
Like Fischer and Kinsey, Baumgartner also started a podcast about the making of “The Office.”

Kate Flannery has guest-starred on several television series (including ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’, ‘New Girl’, ‘American Housewife’, ‘Young Sheldon’ and ‘Magnum PI’), appeared in digital short films and lent her voice to several video games . She also had a recurring role on the animated series ‘Steven Universe’ and competed on season 28 of ‘Dancing with the Stars’.
The 59-year-old met her longtime boyfriend, photographer Chris Haston, on the set of “The Office.”
After ‘The Office’, Phyllis Smith had a recurring role on the Netflix series ‘The OA’. The 74-year-old also lent her voice to the character Sadness in the Pixar film “Inside Out.” Her former ‘The Office’ colleague Kaling plays Disgust.
Craig Robinson rose to fame on “The Office” and then had a recurring role as small-time criminal Doug Judy on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” Now 50 years old, he is also known for his collaborations with actor Seth Rogen, including “Knocked Up,” “Pineapple Express,” “This Is the End,” and “Sausage Party.” In 2022, he played the lead role in the series ‘Killing It’.
Since the end of the sitcom, Creed Bratton has only taken on smaller acting roles. The 80-year-old has instead focused more on his music (he is a former member of the rock band The Grass Roots) and has released several albums since the finale of ‘The Office’.
After the show, Oscar Nuñez, who was already an established comedian, appeared in several series, including “Benched” and “People of Earth.” The 65-year-old also had guest appearances on ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’, ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’, ‘Shameless’, ‘American Housewife’ and ‘The Goldbergs’. Nuñez is also known for his performances in ‘Baywatch’ and in the films ‘Disenchanted’ and ‘The Lost City’, which starred his former partner Sandra Bullock.
He has been married to actress Ursula Whittaker since 2011, with whom he has a daughter.
BJ Novak started out as a writer for the sitcom, but then stepped in front of the camera as a smart office temp. Since ‘The Office’ (for which he received five Emmy nominations as a producer), the 44-year-old has worked as both an actor and a writer. In 2014, he published a collection of short stories entitled ‘One More Thing: Stories and Other Stories’. He plays supporting roles in various films.
Novak is still very good friends with his former colleague Mindy Kaling.

Like Novak, Mindy Kaling also made the jump from the writers’ room to the cameras of “The Office.” Kaling went on to star in the sitcom “The Mindy Project” and created the comedies “Champions,” “Never Have I Ever” and “The Sex Lives of College Girls.” In the new “Scooby-Doo” spin-off “Velma” she lends her voice to Velma.
The 44-year-old has two children, Novak is the godfather of one of her daughters.
While he was still starring as Andy in ‘The Office’, he achieved great success with the ‘Hangover’ films. After the finale of “The Office,” the 50-year-old starred in several films, including “Vacation,” “Catch Me!” and “We are the Millers.” His last role was in the comedy ‘Family Switch’.
Helms is married and has a daughter.
She received two Emmy nominations for her role in “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.” In 2012, she worked with her former co-star Kaling on ‘The Mindy Project’, playing the role of Heather in three episodes. She has dubbed animated characters in films such as ‘The Secret Life of Pets’ and its sequel, as well as in the films ‘The Lego Batman Movie’ and ‘The Smurfs: The Lost Village’.
The 43-year-old is married and the mother of two daughters.
Paul Lieberstein not only played the head of the human resources department, but was also a writer, director, executive producer and showrunner throughout the series’ nine seasons. Since “The Office,” the 56-year-old has remained mainly behind the camera, as executive producer of “The Newsroom,” “Ghosted” and “Space Force.” However, he also made guest appearances in series such as ‘Bad Teacher’, ‘The Mindy Project’ and ‘People of Earth’.
In 2008, Lieberstein married English teacher Janine Serafin Poreba in New York.
