The trailer for the next Marvel film, previously known as ‘Deadpool 3’ but now officially called ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, confirms what we have long suspected: the anti-hero Deadpool, played again by Ryan Reynolds, is shot by the recruited TVA time authority. His adventure also seems to take him to a location very familiar to us from the first season of “Loki”: The Void!
Here are all the things from the so-called “pruned”, that is, deleted timelines, which no longer exist because for a long time it was only important to protect the one and only timeline, the MCU. “Deadpool & Wolverine” should use this for the well-known meta-humor: Everything that wasn’t part of the MCU was rejected – even the entire Fox company, which was famously acquired by Disney. The broken Fox logo is seen briefly in the trailer.
Above all, we also see Aaron Stanford, known as Pyro from “X-Men 2”. He also seems to live in this place. Because all the characters were removed from outside the MCU and now exist there? “Deadpool 3” could bring back many different characters from old films and have them appear with The Void, and some could even be ported over to the main MCU. There are many rumors going around about appearances by Jennifer Garner as Electra or Patrick Stewart as Professor X, for example.
Teaser for Doctor Doom in “Deadpool & Wolverine”?
Even though the shadow of Hugh Jackman’s Logan can be seen in the same location, The Void, at the end of the trailer, the two title heroes of “Deadpool & Wolverine” probably don’t just meet there, but form a duo beforehand. Possible time for this: The trailer briefly references a casino scene, in which we see Logan from behind in a white suit, which he also likes to wear in the comics. However, this scene could also be a variation of the character played by another actor. A similar rumor is doing the rounds.
The ending of the trailer is still interesting. Because Wolverine’s appearance is overshadowed by a very special Easter egg: At the edge of the scene lies an issue from the comic series “Secret Wars” with Doctor Doom’s face on the cover – more precisely, it is the comic “Secret Wars #5”, published in 2015 by author Jonathan Hickman.

And is this really just an Easter egg? As we know, “Secret Wars” is the title of the upcoming “Avengers 6”. However, for a long time it was said that the famous comic book served as inspiration, but, as with ‘Infinity War’, many liberties were taken. So it is not Doctor Doom who is the main opponent here, but the various multiverse variants of Kang. However, ever since Kang actor Jonathan Majors was fired, there has been a question mark.
While Marvel is reportedly looking for an alternate cast, it was revealed that the scripts for “Avengers 5” and “Avengers 6“be revised again. Since then, rumors have been circulating that Marvel is switching to Doctor Doom as the main antagonist.
Many fans are now hoping that the comic is a teaser for the future to tell us: Yes, Doctor Doom is involved in “Avengers 6: Secret Wars.” Since ‘Deadpool 3’ was still filming when Majors was fired and the first decisions were made about what to do next at Marvel, it was probably still possible to comment. It is also possible to integrate the strip into this environment at very short notice using a computer.
Easter egg or hint? We will know more soon!
Ultimately, though, it could just be a little Easter egg or one of the typical meta moments. For example, it would be conceivable that the TVA informs Deadpool that a war is coming – and he is given the comic to prepare for the events (only to find out that the information is of no use because it will be in theaters appear but things are different).
If you want to know more about the many little hints in the trailer of “Deadpool 3”, we recommend the following video from our Marvel expert and YouTube editor Sebastian Gerdzhikow:
And the answers to all the questions and speculations will be in theaters very soon. Although “Deadpool & Wolverine” was recently shot, the film will hit theaters in a few months, which the first trailer has now confirmed once again. German cinema release of “Deadpool and Wolverine“ is July 24, 2024.
