Two years after the second “Doctor Strange” film promised us a “Multiverse Of Madness”, but could only fulfill this promise to a limited extent, “Deadpool 3” in other words “Deadpool & Wolverine” in the summer of 2024 we will really unleash all the multiverse madness on the world. After the plot was kept a top secret for a long time, the meta-actioner’s first trailer at least sheds some light on it. Wade Wilson aka Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) is going to make the multiverse unsafe in the fight against a new threat and meets all kinds of characters from previous Marvel films.
The biggest highlight for many will probably be Marvel’s comeback, which was only hinted at in the trailer but already revealed in the film’s title Hugh Jackman in his signature role as Wolverine, which he had actually given up on seven years earlier with the brutal superhero swan song ‘Logan – The Wolverine’. In ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, Jackman will even play the second lead role next to Ryan Reynolds and he will fulfill a long-cherished fan wish through the clash between the two Marvel characters and actor friends (after the loveless first attempt in ‘X-Men Origins’). : Wolverine”) went pretty badly).
Together, the foul-mouthed mercenary and the clawing mutant embark on a crazy adventure. And that’s not the only special thing: “Deadpool & Wolverine” will also see the titular anti-hero make his debut in the MCUafter “Deadpool” studio 20th Century Fox was purchased by Marvel parent company Disney a few years ago.
Deadpool remains vicious in the MCU
However, the transfer to the otherwise family-friendly MCU shouldn’t change the series’ previous direction. Even under Disney they will stay true to the core of the character with an R rating i.e. US adult age rating, allowing Deadpool to curse and snipe uninhibitedly as usual. This makes ‘Deadpool 3’ the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with such a release. In Germany, as with the two predecessors, it will probably result in FSK approval again from the age of 16.
We can expect more information about the highly anticipated MCU spectacle in the coming months, as it will still take some time until its release: “Deadpool & Wolverine” will hit German cinemas on July 24, 2024 – and, by the way, will be the only new MCU film released this year. This time, the sequel was helmed by ‘Stranger Things’ director Shawn Levy, who previously worked with Reynolds on ‘Free Guy’ and ‘The Adam Project’.
