Prince accepts ‘huge’ compensation from Mirror Group

Prince Henry, youngest son King Charles III of England, will receive “significant additional compensation” from Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN) in relation to a series of pending wiretapping claims that have pitted both sides against each other, his legal team revealed this Friday.

Barrister David Sherborne, representing prince henry, revealed today that his client had reached a financial settlement with the aforementioned group, following a hearing held at the High Court in London at which he was not present.

Sherborne noted that MGN agreed to compensate the damage to the prince for damages and will take over all costs arising from this lawsuit, which include individual and joint costs, which could amount to around 400,000 pounds (around 468,000 euros).

“We are pleased to have reached this agreement, which gives our business greater clarity so that we can turn the page on events that took place many years ago and for which we have apologized,” an MGN spokesperson said in a statement.

In a statement read on behalf of Sherborne prince henry, He emphasized the “positive change” that the resolution of the case will bring.

“As I said in December, our mission continues. I believe in it positive change what will this bring to all of us. “That is the real reason why I started this and why I will continue to the end,” said the duke.

He also criticized journalist Piers Morgan – a former director of the Mirror – for his “continuous attacks” him.

“Again, we ask the authorities to let the law prevail and show that no one is above it. That includes Morgan, who as a director knew perfectly well what was going on, as the judge found,” he added.

Last December, Judge Timothy Fancourt It has already ruled that the prince was the victim of hacking by the said group in order to obtain exclusive information about his private life and determined that he should receive compensation of 140,600 pounds (about 163,096 euros).

Then, the High Court in London He agreed with him in 15 of the 33 journalistic articles that, according to Enrique, were prepared on the basis of information obtained illegally between 2003 and 2009.

Prince Henry, who lives in NOW with his wife Meghan and their two children, launched legal proceedings against the owner of tabloids such as the Sunday Mirror, Daily Mirror and Sunday People – accusing him of using shady practices such as wiretapping and hiring detectives to obtain information and sell novelty.

After Prince Henry criticized Morgan, he wrote on his X account (formerly Twitter) that he agreed with the Duke about press interference.

“I completely agree with prince henry in which the relentless intrusion into private life royal family for financial gain is absolutely reprehensible… and I hope they stop doing it,” Morgan said, clearly referring to the prince who criticized his own family via the Netflix platform.
