From the creator of ‘Scream’: Hitchcock’s masterpiece, Fincher classics and other thriller highlights become a series

What do the first two “Scream” shockers, “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and the series “Dawson’s Creek,” “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Following” have in common? They all come from the pen of Kevin Williamsonwho is regarded in Hollywood as a master screenwriter of horror and thriller material and has launched numerous successful films and series in his almost 30-year career. Now the author has his hands full again, as Universal Television recently signed Williamson for a series of new series adaptations – and the material behind it is more than impressive.

This is one of the ways in which Williamson socializes Alfred Hitchcock Masterpiece “The window to the garden” from 1954, which starred James Stewart at the time as a photographer with a broken leg who witnesses a murder from his apartment window. Williamson is developing his own series from the classic for the American streaming service Peacock. Another project will be ‘The Waterfront’, which will be based on an original screenplay by the author. It’s loud in there about the dysfunctional Buckley family, who fight to preserve their fishing empire in North Carolina. The series is currently for sale on the market.

Kevin Williamson adapts ‘The Game’ by David Fincher

The screenwriter devotes himself to the psychological thriller “The game”, which was directed in 1997 by David Fincher (“Fight Club”) appeared. The film’s two original writers, John Brancato and Michael Ferris, will produce the series. In it, a wealthy banker from San Francisco finds himself caught up in a treacherous game that makes him question his sanity. Michael Douglas and Sean Penn star in Fincher’s original.

The latest project that Williamson is developing for Universal Television is an adaptation of Ruth Ware’s bestselling novel The It Girl. Kevin Williamson is writing the script with Sarah L. Thompson, while Ruth Ware is executive producing. The novel is about a young woman who searches for answers ten years after her good friend was murdered.
