“Too big for TV”: “Batman” star had to take shrinking pills to shrink his best part!

Superhero films were not so important in the 1960s, but the ‘Dark Knight’ was allowed to guarantee public order in Gotham City on the television screen: the ‘Batman’ series was successfully shown on American TV for 120 episodes before it went to air In the 1970s, “A Case for Batman” got another animated spin-off. While Adam West played the title hero, Burt Ward played his loyal, enthusiastic sidekick Robin, who rarely leaves Batman’s side and had to add a humorous tone to the adventures.

Both actors had to be natural for their roles forced into form-fitting costumes, which caused outrage among some moral guardians in the 1960s – and, according to Ward, led to a spicy and rather strange incident in his case…

Burt Ward’s penis was “too big for TV”!

In an interview with The 78-year-old chatted about the background of the legendary ABC show – and revealed that ‘Batman’ producers were bothered by the bulge that appeared between his legs due to the suit. “They said Robin had a penis bulge that was too big for TV.”Ward said. In order not to make the audience blush, the creators of the series resorted to radical measures – demanding that Ward take medical action against the “problem”!

“A doctor prescribed me a medicine to shrink my penis”, the actor and voice actor continues. “I used it for three days before it occurred to me that it would probably stop me from having children. I then stopped taking the pills and instead wore a cape to cover myself.” It was certainly a wise decision: today Ward is the father of two daughters.

The opposite happened to his co-star: “They put Turkish towels down Adam’s pants,” Ward reveals – apparently the hero of the series had to appear more powerful than his helper.

In the ’90s, George Clooney sparked debate and laughter with his infamous “bat nipples.” Probably not the only reason why the Oscar winner is at war with ‘Batman & Robin’ today, as you can read in the following article:
