“We told you: don’t name your dog Khaleesi”: Peter Dinklage doesn’t understand the excitement surrounding the finale of “Game Of Thrones”

More than five years have passed since the finale of “Game Of Thrones” appeared on the television screens of HBO and celebrated its premiere in this country via streaming on Sky or WOW. The meaningful episode entitled ‘The Iron Throne’ concluded what for many fans was probably the greatest fantasy series of all time, but which ran out of steam in its last breath – and still exists alongside ‘Dexter’ and ‘Lost’. This day. is one of the most controversial series finales in TV history.

Please note, from now on there will be spoilers for the finale of “Game Of Thrones”: A point of criticism for countless fans was the plot twist surrounding the character development of Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys “Khaleesi” Targaryen, who wanted to see Westeros almost suddenly engulfed in fire and blood, rather than as Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) and other allies hoped to bring peace to the Seven Kingdoms. This in turn led to Jon Snow (Kit Harington) killing his love, while Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) ultimately occupied the Iron Throne instead of Daenerys or Jon.

Tyrion actor Peter Dinklage, however, has little sympathy for anyone for whom this ending came too suddenly and is too at odds with how the characters have developed over the course of the series thus far. Because for him the final had long been visible in the distance on the horizon.

For Peter Dinklage, the signs were clear

This is what he explained in an interview with , that there can only be a simple explanation for the disappointment with the finale of “Game Of Thrones”: “People were just angry because no one wanted it to be over. I know many were surprised by the ending, but if you paid attention, the signs were there. We told you: don’t name your dog Khaleesi.

In fact, the first tendencies towards Daenerys’ true nature were already visible in earlier seasons, when the mother of dragons conquered entire cities and thus decided the lives and deaths of countless people. And there might also be something to the idea that fans were especially angry about the finale because it marked the end of their favorite series.

Because some ‘Game Of Thrones’ fans were definitely expecting more than eight seasons – especially since the first seasons took up all the time in the world in their story, world building and character development and it felt like it was a resolution to the many storylines still left nowhere in sight.

The fact that the events of the later seasons were suddenly handled quickly was probably the real big disappointment of the series. If the journey to the final had taken more time, many fans might not have been so angry and surprised… Would Peter Dinklage agree?

If you want to watch the grand finale of ‘Game of Thrones’ again, you can currently find it on WOW as a streaming subscription. There you can also see the first season of the prequel series “House Of The Dragon”, which is currently celebrating its free TV premiere on ProSieben.
