‘Les Miserables’, nominated for an Oscar, appeared on the domestic billboard

Oscar-nominated film “Poor people” (“Poor creatures”), by the Greek director Yorgos Lanthimosis now available in China of the city.

The premiere of “Les Miserables,” starring Emma Stone, opens up the perfect situation for moviegoers to see why the movie got 11 Oscar nominations.

“Poor creatures” competes in categories such as “Best Film”, “Best Director” (Lanthimos), “Best Actress” (Stone), among others, it is the second film with the most nominations at the most important award ceremony in the film industry.

What is it about? The sci-fi film tells the story of a woman named Bella Baxter (Stone) who is resurrected after being given a brain transplant by scientist Godwin Baxter.

In her desire to learn and search for worldliness, Bella runs away with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a sophisticated and vicious lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across continents.

“Freed from the prejudice of her time, Bella becomes steadfast in her determination to defend equality and liberation,” reads the synopsis of the feature film.

The film is described as visually stunning, with an intriguing story and packed with outstanding performances.

Production

The screenplay “Les Miserables” was written by Tony MacNamara, and is based on the 1992 novel of the same name by the Scottish writer and artist Alasdair Gray.

Furthermore, this is not the first work for Lanthimos and Stone, they collaborated on “The Favorite” and have already finished shooting their third film, tentatively titled “Kind of Kindess.”

Prizes

The feature film received several awards including the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and two Golden Globes, “Best Comedy or Musical” and “Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical”, and the Critics Choice Award for the role of Stone.
