Singers Anna Barbara and Olga Tañónand reggaeton artist Don Omarwill get special recognitions in the next Lo Nuestro award ceremony, the Hispanic American network TelevisaUnivision, organizers of the gala, reported on Wednesday.
During the ceremony, which will take place on February 22 in Miami (USA), Mexican singer-songwriter Ana Bárbara will receive Lo Nuestro Lifetime Achievement Awardin recognition of a three-decade career that has left her “an indelible mark as one of the most prominent female voices within the genre of regional Mexican music,” according to a statement from the network.
For her part, Puerto Rican Olga Tañón, the most awarded in the history of these awards, will receive the award Lo Nuestro Award for Excellence for his significant contribution to Latin music.
“This honor is not only given to artists who have built an impeccable musical legacybut they also served as pioneers in their genre, creating a positive impact outside of the music field,” explained TelevisaUnivision.
Likewise, Don Omar will receive the “Global Icon” awardone of the recognizable pioneers reggaeton and the leader of the urban movementand who is “a constant source of inspiration for countless new artists, thanks to his visionary contributions and influence on the industry,” the statement continued.
The Lo Nuestro Award, which is awarded by public vote, has been awarded continuously since 1989 and honors the most outstanding representatives latin music.
This year’s ceremony will be held in Miami Kaseya Center and will be broadcast live on Univision and in Mexico on Las Estrellas.
Among the 180 nominees of the next edition, distributed in 38 categories, the Colombian is the favorite Malumawith 14 mentionsfollowed by Mexican music exponents Peso Pluma and Grupo Frontera with 13 and 10 awards, respectively, and Feid and Karol G with 9 nominations each.
