The big favorites so far are competing for the best film “Oppenheimer” by Christopher Nolan and “Poor things» by Yorgos Lanthimos, however, could slip through the cracks “The Remainers”the new feel-good car from the two-time Oscar winner Alexander Payne. Emma Stone (“Poor Things”) and Lily Gladstone (“Killers of the Flower Moon”) are the clear favorites for the best actress award, but also the German one Sandra Hueller (“Anatomie d’une chute”) has intact chances. That Margot Robbie was forgotten or ignored is the real scandal of this selection.

No other performance by a leading actor has been able to achieve this feat Cillian Murphy than Oppenheimer – not even that of Paul Giamatti (“The Holdovers”), an absolute favorite of the jury.

During the 2023/24 awards season, Martin Scorsese’s ‘Barbie’, ‘Oppenheimer’, ‘Poor Things’ and ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ are among the most popular films among juries, each with over 300 nominations. “Oppenheimer” has received the most awards to date.

2023 was the big winner “Everything everywhere at once” by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. The surreal comedy was nominated for eleven Oscars and won seven, including four of the Big Five categories: film, director, lead actress (Michelle Yeoh) and original screenplay. The Oscar for Best Actor in 2023 went to Brendan Fraser for his role in ‘The Whale’.

The war drama ‘Nothing new in the West’ was also one of the winners in 2023. There were nine nominations and four Oscars. However, “The Banshees of Inisherin” (9 nominations), “Elvis” (8) and “The Fablemans” (7) left empty-handed.

The Oscar ceremony will take place one hour earlier on the night of March 10 to 11 than in previous years; For us it starts at 1am. We will be there live.
