It’s about time! It is finally clear when the sixth season of ‘Outlander’ will come to Netflix

Although the first five seasons of ‘Outlander’ also aired on free television, most local fans are likely to watch the hit series on Netflix – where they are kept in suspense for longer and longer periods of time. After Netflix was at the end of the exploitation chain for the five seasons in question (after the German premiere on the pay-TV channel RTL Passion and even after the free TV premiere on Vox), the waiting time for season 6 is even more extreme – especially in the absence of the usual alternatives.

From season 6 onwards, the premiere rights in this country are no longer held by the RTL Group, which means that the series did not continue on German television (yet?) four years after season 5. Instead, the episodes have been available for purchase from various streaming providers since their US launch in March 2022 (and will be available on October 19, 2023). on DVD and Blu-ray* popped up). However, a Netflix release has not yet been in sight – even though the fifth season has been available on the platform since May 2021.

While some people feared that there might be no more ‘Outlander’ addition from the streaming provider with the red N after the rights confusion, many fans can now finally breathe a sigh of relief: The sixth season of ‘Outlander’ will be released on Netflix on February 3, 2024. This is clear from the series entry about the service itself:

However, it remains to be seen if the entire season will be released at once or if the episodes will only be released gradually despite the long wait. The fact that Netflix only lists the release date as “new episode February 3” actually suggests the latter. Either way, we’ll finally find out what happens next with the awkward time-travel love story of Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan).

Much more “Outlander” planned – but also a finale in sight

The sixth season of ‘Outlander’ is the shortest of the series at just eight episodes, but it’s still not the end of the line. A seventh season that lasts twice as long has already started in the US in the summer of 2023 and will enter its second half this year. The 10-part eighth season, already confirmed, will complete the adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s ‘Highland Saga’ – but not completely. What is certain is that the series will get a prequel with ‘Outlander: Blood Of My Blood’, which focuses on Jamie’s parents Brian and Ellen and which could possibly start before the end of the main series. However, there is no date yet.
